Heat Bed Power Problems

Hi All,

I have a problem with power. When I get the heat bed to heat up it heat perfectly fine but when it gets up to temperature the power cut out completely. Does anyone know what is likely to cause this?

I am using an ATX power supply. The 12V is rated to 8A. I assume that this maybe the issue. Any ideas?

Thanks.

You need a bigger PSU. A search of the forum will show many threads on the subject and what the power requirements are.

Yeah, 8 amps isn't enough. Count on about 11 amps for your typical MK2 heat bed, plus anywhere up to another 5 amps for heaters/motors/fans, etc. I'd say minimum 16 amps total, 20 to have a good margin of safety. I actually use a 30 amp PSU that I got on eBay and have never had a problem.
