AIR PRINTING - JAMMING > PRUSA i3 > PLA
August 25, 2014 03:11PM
HI All,

I have been plagued by the Air printing problem,
from what I see this is a common problem with no clear solution.

I have had my Prusa i3 for a few months and its been nothing less than great.
I was very happy with my 3d printer until the Air printing started.

Info :

Prusa i3 > All metal Hotend > 0.4 mm Nozzle > PLA
The first spool of PLA I used (Clear RED) worked perfectly.

addition info > when i use ABS Plastic - no jamming happens - just the STD warping ....

I have checked others with the same problem (see attached Excel Sheet) [www.dropbox.com]

if you can help > Please share your Knowledge
I would love to get printing again.

Have you determined whether you're getting heat creep? Pull the filament all the way out after a jam and check for expansion - if it's gone past the heat break you'll need to point a fan above the heat break to stop it.

It could be stepper driver overheating, but this does not explain why it prints ABS fine.
