hello folks,

i tested a new stepper ordered from a website (wwwonlinesteppers.com , its china i think). i was a sucker at their pricing (and i need some low budget steppers :p )

so just to share some info ...

so this little NEMA23 costs about USD21, 400steps/rev. rated @ 0.9Nm torque (not huge), 12v @ 0.38A on paper, operated @ 0.5A 22v (Vmot). using an old cheapo (china) A4983. the 1/16 stepping tests looks not bad at all. however, same strange reason that happened to my other sanyo stepper, the A4988 runs but has miss steps.

it looks lke visually, this stepper has a far more even stepping than the sanyo. theoretically, to compare both my other sanyo and this unit, method of operation and theoretical comparison. it might be possible for drivers to achieve better microstepping ... if you change the Vsense resistor to suit whatever is being operated at.

eg ... swapping 0.05ohms to say --> 0.1 --> 0.15 --> 0.2 --> 0.27 --> 0.3 --> 0.33 etc ... limited by the tiny SMD power dissipation envelop.

any 1 tried swapping that Vsense?

oh and pls do not use this for repraps, IT IS VERY SLOW, at its intended torque handling capability. when at high speeds, the torque level is way low, giving way to friction very easily. unless maybe ... extruder motor? or maybe direct Z threaded rods?
