Printing, but serial errors abound.

Right, I'm printing with the extruded extruder. I've done a couple of
layers of a hexagon test object.

It's working, but I get comms errors all the time. With debug on it
looks a lot like this. Any ideas?

No ideas, but you're making history here! :-)
Re: Printing, but serial errors abound.

Is this is with the old-style (i.e. not universal) extruder controller,
and a re-build of the firmware from the latest version?

It seems to be getting hiccups with temperature measurement. I fixed
the code to solve this for the universal PCB, but had no way of testing
it for the old circuit. So it may be my fault... If you say "yes" to
the above question I'll see if I can see what's wrong. (If "No" I'll
think again...)

Best wishes

It's old firmware in the old extruder controller. Should I upgrade the
controller firmware?

Try that, but keep the old PIC with the old program in just in case...

Sorry Vik - it's 1.30am here, snow's on its way, and there's a warm bed
in the house - back online at 10:00 UTCish. I've been scrambling
eyeballs and brain over Zach's invitation to improve his version of the
Universal PCB - I'll just mail that before Zzzzzzz.

Best wishes

Just as well I did. The new extruder firmware caused the motor to whizz
round at high speed when I enabled the fan!

Grandma Bowyer's Egg-Sucking School:

You did comment out the #define UNIVERSAL_PCB line in extruder.h, didn't you?

Yup - they came; they saw; they laid a little fibreglass. And the
insurance company paid. Now we even have a hatch so we can go out on
it on clear summer nights with the telescope.

Best wishes

I think I need to retake egg sucking...

Stand by for take two.
