i'm probably just going to drill out a couple inches of a bolt and
screw that + jbweld into the wood i'm using as my thermal barrier.
unfortunately i couldnt really find any good hollow tubes that were
small enough at the hardware store... plus i have a drill press so it
should be pretty easy to do that part.
also, the drill press worked really really well in tandem with my
dremel as a cheapo lathe to smooth down the parts of the rod... a
drill press is one of the top 3 tools you should get if you can... i
got mine for $90 from harbor freight. its a pretty crappy press, but
it definitely gets the job done.
