vertical straight edges are barrel shaped

I am trying to print a gear, but all the vertical edges are "reverse barrel"-shaped. I have attached a few pictures to demonstrate this. What could be the source of this problem?

The problem is in both the teeth ( ) and the hub ( ). It is not even on all sides, as you can see by comparing those two pictures. The size of the error is about 1 millimeter.

Is this:
a) Mechanical issue
b) Cooling/heating issue

And what should I do to fix this?

... seems you're too hot - lower the bed temperature after the first layer and see if this changes ...

You'll need to post some more details.. ABS/PLA? Tempareture? Speed?

Assuming you print ABS.. Try to raise the temperature a bit, and turn down the heated bed to 95 degrees after the first layer.
Also slowing down or printing more items at a time might help.

You are completely right. We actually figured that out later today when still looking for the reasons to that problem. I just logged on to post my solution here.

But thank you for answering smiling smiley
