More jamming at end of spool

I've noticed that my printer tends to jam more when the filament spool gets low (1-3 layers of filament left). I can't figure out why this happens.
Anyone else have this problem?

Sometimes the filament gets tangled on the reel and snags up causing feed problems.

Check to see if it's out of round. It could be that it's wound tight and flattening the the filament a bit making it oval and thus it would jam up. Could also be moisture in it from humidity.
