Stepper motors make noise but shafts refuse to move.

Hi,

I bought some stepper motors to make my own printer. I'm trying to get the motor to move so I can hook them up to my printer. However, when I try to run the motors they just make noise and don't move at all. I am just running one motor on the X-Axis

I am using:
These Unipolar Stepper Motors: [www.ebay.com]
Ramps 1.4 and an Arduino MEGA
The pre-configured Marlin firmware I found on the RepRap wiki (just for testing)
I have tried Pronterface and Repetier-Host
My PSU is a standard 250W ATX PSU

I have tried everything including triple checking motor connections, switching motors, and re burning firmware. This is really starting to frustrate me. Does anyone have any idea as to what may be causing this to happen?

what leads are you using from the motors - which 4 of the 6?
Have you adjusted your stepper drivers?

I have hooked up the 4 wires to the RAMPS board with the center taps ignored. I measured the potentiometers with a multimeter and got .4V.

I'm guessing you need to fake out the end stop switches.....(or at least check their status before assuming the motors or motor connections are at fault).

Triggered endstops will inhibit any motor movement.

On the ebay page it shows:

PIN1= B-
COMMON
PIN3= B
PIN4= A
COMMON
PIN6= A-

I may be wrong but it looks like 1& 3 are pairs and 4 & 6 are pairs.

I have no end stops hooked up right now. When I use manual control on the software the motor makes a normal sound as if it was moving. However, the shaft twitches about 1mm. I am so confused. I have the stepper hooked up to Ramps and wired properly with a PSU with plenty of output. I have the firmware properly configured and my motors are good. All I have connected right now is 1 motor. What could possibly be going wrong right now?

....and the controller is likely reading this as a triggered endstop (per my previous comment).

Not sure what the g-code is to read the enstops, but you can try that to see if this may be the issue or not.
