Strange behaviour when starting print: calibrating but not printing

Dear all,

Last month I have assembled the RepRap Prusa Mendel v2. Testing with Pronterface works fine (homing works, extruder heats up, axes are moving as they should when giving manual commands,..).

When I now want to do my first print, namely the '20mm_hollow_cube_export.gcode', the following occurs (the same is true for other .gcode files):

1) The printer searches the X, Y and Z mechanical endstops (only endstops for MIN values);
2) The printer moves in the XY direction but is not stopped at the defined MAX values, he continues until he is mechanically blocked and at that point the X and Y motors start vibrating a few seconds (because they are mechanically blocked);
3) Then the X and Y motors are automatically tripped and at the moment the extruder starts extruding. But this latter never stops;
4) So the the extruder is blocked in the mechanically maximum XY position with a turning extruder that never stops extruding (with non-moving XY axes) and the actual print doesn't start.

Our Reprap machines are "open loop". The only certainty we have are the min stops (on a Prusa style) and if the correct thermistor is configured, the temperature.
It sounds like your "steps per mm" in your configuration.8 may not be correct for your printer. Also, your microstepping setting on your stepper drivers may not match your configuration.h and printer steppers.

Things to check: (The first two are the most likely)
controller board microstep jumpers (1/16,1/8, 1/32, whatever) Most people use the 1/16 setting. If your configuration.h file is set for 16 steps and your board is 8, you will step too far.
Configuration.h steps/mm setting: Your settings look high {104.987, 104.987, 2272.7272, 1487}, compared to most 1.8 deg, 1/16 stepper settings that are commonly in kits.
Stepper phase configuration: Some steppers are .9 deg. per phase, most are 1.8. Twice as many steps are needed for the .9 as are needed by the 1.8.

Use pronterface to move a certain distance and measure that distance. Keep it to 10-20mm movement to start with. Same with the extruder.
