What is the current level of support for AMF in Slic3r? Specifically does it associate materials with extruders?

The current documentation states that it associates the first object with the first extruder, the second object with the second extruder, etc. which implies that you can only have one object per extruder.

However wouldn't it work better if volumes and materials were used instead?

Hey, I'm interested in AMF support also. Its _soooo_ much better as a format! No more leaky meshes, ability to specify unit of measure in the files, as well as internal structure, lots of goodies!

I'm working on a project that aims to make it easier to make solids in AMF format-- for example [www.parametricparts.com]

What other places can generate AMF?

I ended up working out the answers to my questions through trial and error. The result is here:

There are some critical bugs with AMF/multi-color support in Slic3r. I've put them on the issues list in github. Hopefully they will be fixed in the near future...
