Purge tower hack?
December 10, 2016 10:46AM
I'm trying to print a PLA part with HIPS as support material with a diamond hotend. The printing works by now, but the remains in the nozzle spoils both parts.
I'd need to add a purge tower where the filament change can do no harm, but I can't think of a way to trick slic3r into moving to an empty spot and extrude some filament after a tool change.

Has anyone made a post processing hack or something?

If you are using RepRapFirmware, you could do that in the tpost#.g files.

Sounds interesting!
Where can I find more info about it? Is it working with RRF 1.14 RADDS? Do I put it in the macro subfolder or sys folder?

Take a look in SLIc3R under Print settings.

You can read about too change files here [duet3d.com]. They were implemented more than 2 years ago so 1.14 will support them.
