I have been thinking about this point, since I have been recently doing some batches of fairly large prints, each taking up to 6 hours or more. By my calculations, by informed choice of infill direction, the time taken for infill for given speed and acceleration settings would be reduced to just over 2/3 of the time of that for a printer that moved at the same rate in all directions, a considerable saving!

My hunch is that as time goes on printing speed will be come more and more important figure of merit. It is starting to be so for me at least!
