Hot End using an electric silicone gun?

Hi to everybody.
I'm new in this world and I'm attempting to start a Prusa Mendel project soon.
As I'm a student and the main limitation to develop it is money, I would like to be as DIY as possible.
But I have a big doubt with hot end. I have read all the wiki and some extra documentation, and I see that some hard-to-find pieces are needed to build it. And thinking of alternatives (as buying it on-line being my last option) I thought in use one of these electric silicone gun:

I have one at home and the hole is 1.75 mm. Would the temperature that is used to melt silicone enough to melt PLA?
Has anyone tried it? Maybe is a silly idea, but I want to know your opinion.

Which hole is 1.75mm?

It its the output hole the prints would be very bulky, 0.5mm (nearly a 1/4 of the size) is the standard starting nozzle size with 0.3mm and lower being increasingly popular.

This guy built a Fischertechnik-RepStrap around one of this glue-guns.

The used material is EVA and melts with lower temp than ABS, but should be enough for PLA ...
