Extruder issue

Been banging my head trying to figure this out. I can manually extrude with no issue. When I go to print the motor turns slow. Something tells me its firmware related. I've looked it up and havent found anything that covers this specific topic except for someone having a gcode issue. Anyone have any suggestions? Its a Mendel prusa with Ramps 1.4 and sprinter firmware. Motors are standard nema 17. If someone has a similar setup and can send their firmware settings. I'm close to giving up.

The gcode for extrusion usually specifies the exact number of millimeters to feed into the extruder. If you think it is turning too slowly, you need to look at the number you have in your firmware for z steps/mm. In marlin, this is in the configuration.h file. It's a value that needs to be determined through experimentation. Google "slic3r is nicer" and it will lead you to a nice tutorial for how to calibrate your z steps.
