Working materials

hi again if i build a reprap machine, i want to use ABS. in the webpage e see that this material cust $5,24/Lb. i like to now how much i need(Lb) to do a single piece.. for example piece wiht a Working volume [230mm (X) x 230mm (Y) x 100mm (Z)]. thank you

ABS density 1040 to 1120 kg m^3
230x230x100 mm is 0,00529m^3 thats about 5.5 to 6 kg
1kg is about 2.205 lb

I think what he meant to ask was the mass of ABS he would need to make the parts for a Darwin which has the standard working volume of 230x230x100 mm, not how much to fill the working volume.

This came up before in [forums.reprap.org] and the answer there was "1.1kg". That was with an earlier design and probably not ABS so I would say "Under 2 kilograms/Under 4 pounds" would be a reasonable guess.

Hmm,
because the working volume is not much depending on the plastic parts of darwin but more or less only on the length of the rods (well up to a certain stage of course) I got confused by the question.

but yes then it would be about three pounds, but under four for sure.
