i3 - Temperature won't stop rising (350deg) manual kill

Hi!

I have started to build a new printer; i3 based on a twelvepro wooden frame and EINSTEIN Variant.

Taurino Board, Ramps 1.4 and reprapdiscount graphical LCD.

Got it together, put together a firmware.
Everything moves, looks about right. Started the heaters.... Got hot..

LCD panel - I went to preheat PLA.
Temp rises - 100 > 150 > 180 > 200 > 250 > 300[[/u]/b]... Crap! Power off.
The Kaptop tape around nozzle even starts to smoke.

Can someone help with why it is not slowing/stopping temp at 180?

I've had an i2 previously - Was a great machine, now with a new owner, so it was time to rebuild a new machine

.....also, dual extrudes (j-head) and one hit 350 super fast and one was "stalling" at 110deg.....
The 110 was just rising very so in comparison.

Ext 1@ 110
Ext 2@ 350

Seems like a big problem, but I'm sure this has happened before!

Thanks!!!!

Did you check the resistance of thermistors ? maybe you have a short when you install the kapton. or simply, you install the thermistor in the wrong input on the ramps.

my toughts :-)

maybe the hot end is connected to the wrong FET/Thermistor. It would then heat up but not be able to detect when it was hot enough.

That would be a great point.. I know that when I start my prints, it issues a M106 to start the fan.. and that fan is connected to the second extruder output.. so if the head is connected to that output, it would not be monitored..

extruder0 is D10 and extruder1 is D9 (if I remember correctly, I'm at home right now)

Not the extruder connection, but the thermistor connection. I think bryanandaimee was trying to say check where you have connected the wire from the thermistor. If you got those connections in the wrong places, it could be that the hot end is staying on because it is checking the temperature of the bed for example.

Hi,
Thanks for that, checked that and the extruder and terminator match ext0 and th0. sad smiley

I'm thinking my thermistor could be wrong in the firmware...

Not exactly sure what it should be set at;
Thermistor is: 100k thermistor EPCOS B57560G104F NTCwhat is this number in the firmware?

My J-Head is:
Only difference is I'm using a ceramic heater cart.

pipe down the PID if you have a ceramic cartrige... PID MAX for the hotend.. it should be at 255.. put it lower like 150..

at 255 PWM it raises to fast.

that is what i did.. a freind too :-)

Seemed to be working now.
Firmware tweaks and reconnected everything.

Also lowered pwm to 200.

Thanks
