Wrong size J-head

Wrong size J-head

My new J-head arrived and it is for 3mm filament. I only have 1.75mm. I have some PTFE tube with a 1.75mm ID but the OD is too big to fit in the 3mm nozzle. I am thinking of mounting the PTFE in my bench motor and sanding it down until it fits in the nozzle. Would this be a mistake?

This would be a mistake.

Either switch to 3mm (fairly easy to do) or get one that's the right size.

E-mail the J-head guy, assuming you bought an actual J-head. They can sell you a little insert I'm sure for pretty cheap, that's all it'll take.

I had some 4mm PTFE, and I saw a web page where a guy told how he drilled up the red PTFE and fit the 4mm. I used my lathe, ant the 4mm was really 3.92mm so I drilled it up to 3.87mm and press fit my PTFE. Two prints later it is working like a charm. Fingers crossed.

Many prints later it is still going strong!
