Has anyone figured out a way to implement an auto-leveling bed to a Prusa Mendel i2?

how would you go about adding four motors to adjust the heat bed hight, would we really want the extra weight on it. I don't see a need for such a feature on a prusa mendel and the only time you would is when the mechanical endstop start to ware and then I just swap it out

there are other methods for autoleveling than adding a stepper to each corner smiling smiley

Like measuring the level and changing gcode accordingly.
MatterHackers claim to be able to autolevel on software alone - haven't tested this yet tho.
