Folger Tech -- Limited to 100 mm for Z axis?? **SOLVED**
April 17, 2015 01:17PM
Build:
Folger Tech Prusa i3
RAMPS 1.4
Arduino Mega

Running:
Repetier Host V1.0.6
Arduino V1.6.3 --> Marlin_RAMPS_EPCOS_i38

When trying to slice an object with a height of 120 mm, I get a warning that "At least one object is outside the printable area...."
And sure enough, I can't get my extruder to venture above 100 mm.confused smiley

Question:
Why am I only allowed a 100 mm build height when printing?
According to Folger Tech specs, I should be able to print to at least 177 mm.
Can't find anywhere, where it limits me to 100 mm; not in Repetier Host or the configuration file/header.

Can anyone shed some light on this dilemma for me? Thanks!

Your firmware is set for 185, so the problem is in the slicer. I don't use slic3r or Repetier, but somewhere in the main settings should be the built plate size.

Thanks for the quick responce ggherbaz.

In main settings, the only options provided for are for the X and Y axis ....that I can tell; both presently set at 200 each

I don't use slic3r or Repetier,

What is it that you use?

**SOLVED**

I was looking in the wrong place... "Configuration" under Slicer Tab --> printer settings.

Instead, it's in "printer settings" (gear symbols) at the top right in Repetier Host...............my bad tongue sticking out smiley

My guess is your using Repetier-Host... in the 'Printer Settings' dialog on the 'Printer Shape' tab you need to change the 'Print Area Height' (default is 100mm).

Hope this helps!

PS/FYI.. Slic3r doesn't have a max z setting. Cura has a max z height in the 'Machine Settings'.

Glad you find it.

I use Simplify3d.

Thanks ggherbaz, I'll have to check that out. "Simplify" is the "Key" word there, for me anyway.... smiling smiley
