Endstops not working

Hi, I'm a complete novice, have just received my Geetech i3 clone with mega 2560 board. First problem I have encountered is the endstops do nothing. I guess I have to flash the firmware somehow, but havnt got a clue how to go about it. Any help greatly appreciated.

I have found out how to upload it now, but get this error at end. "Arduino: 1.8.0 (Windows 7), Board: "Arduino/Genuino Mega or Mega 2560, ATmega2560 (Mega 2560)"

Sketch uses 51312 bytes (20%) of program storage space. Maximum is 253952 bytes.
Global variables use 2666 bytes (32%) of dynamic memory, leaving 5526 bytes for local variables. Maximum is 8192 bytes.

This report would have more information with
"Show verbose output during compilation"
option enabled in File -> Preferences.

Does the board show up as a com port under windows device manager?
Is that port the one selected in the Arduino IDE?
Is the Arduino IDE the only program accessing the Arduino (Pronterface or Repitier need to be disconected from the Arduino to upload new firmware)
