Crealty CR20 Pro woes

Good Morning,

I'm trying to get a 3D printer up and running (CR20 Pro).

Problem 1:

It dosn't get picked up by windows (10 or 11) when plugged into the USB.

I figured a firmware update is probably in order.

I've downloaded the Marlin, copied across the Marlin config example for the CR20 Pro and downloaded Arduino IDE. At this point Arduino IDE asks for a board. I have no clue. Searches for a RAMPS 1.3 file have gotten me no where.
I'm probably not even looking for the correct thing.

Problem 2:

I've manged to hook up to the printer with Octopi and that works wonderfully, how ever the printing seems to happen about 3 cm above the bed, i.e. not at all.

I've downloaded the instruction booklet and try to follow the setup steps, but the menus I have a different to the ones in the instructions.

The auto home takes me to Z +15

When I move to 'drags on a piece of paper' height and try 'Set Home Offesets' it says Err: Too far!

I have tried with positive and negetave "Probe Z Offset" values (a positive z offset seems to result in a negative z axis and vice versa) but have had no joy.

Current printer driver information:

Marlin, bugfix-2.0.x

Ramps 1.3

Protocol 1.0

PSU Generic

I'm kind of hoping a new firmware update will sort it out. Any help appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

The controller is a Creality V2.1 this uses a ch340 usb serial converter

You need to install drivers for windows to see this [learn.sparkfun.com]

Thanks for that!

I'm not sure I'd have ever found that smiling smiley

Now I just have to solve problem 2!
