[UK] Prusa Parts BOM + Questions

Hi,

After my last thread I started to compile my list of parts for a Prusa build.

So far I have;
Ramps 1.4 DIY-kit FULL (link) - €84
^Includes 4x stepper drivers (with heatsinks), RAMPS 1.4 PCB + components and arduino MEGA 1280
Hardware Kit (link) -£100
^Includes all the bolts, nuts, washers, hobbed bolt, mdf surfaces, bars, belts and hotend set (no electrical parts).
Stepper Motors (link) - £55
Plastics (link) -£75
Thermistor 100K (link) - €6
Miniature microswitch (link) -€6

Which works out at €96 + Shipping and Tax + £230 + Shipping
So~£300 to £330

I have a soldering iron, a few meters of wire and all the basic tools needed.

Firstly apart from the PC powersupply and filament is there anything I'm missing?
Any simple changes I can make to reduce the price?

As I was typing this post I remembered I need a resistor for the hot end as none of suppliers I used in my current list offers them can someone please recommend me one.

Thanks,

Joe

The microswitch and thermistor are much too expensive:

The RAMPS kit is pretty cheap, are you sure VAT is included in this price?

Not too sure about the hot end. Is it any decent? What do other buyers have to say about it?

For instance in EU :
[shop.grrf.de]
[reprap-fab.org]

Elsewhere
[ultimachine.com] (not sure where they are located - they use $).
[mixshop.com] (Toronto).

I also find the hardware kit pretty expensive. I've found the entire kit without hot end for €66:

Prusa timing belts set 12,99 [www.2printbeta.de]
Prusa nuts & bolts set 19,95 [www.2printbeta.de]
Wade Extruder Montagekit 13,95 [shop.grrf.de]
608-ZZ Bearings 1,49 [shop.grrf.de]
Rods 11,89 [www.xyzprinters.com]

devijvers, its (RAMPS full kit) €102 including shipping and Tax so ~£90.

Are you sure the thermistor will be ok, its range is –50°C to +110°C?
I thought it needed to support 200°C+

DeuxVis, thanks I've been trying to stick to UK sellers, but I'll bare those supplies in mind. Thanks for taking the time to post.

devijvers, I know I'm new to this but wouldn't I need this bar kit (link) @€25 as in includes the smooth bars?
This would push it upto about €75+shipping without hot end or the mdf (peanuts I know, but still).
Which would bump the price to pretty much on par with the hardware kit I linked.

He seems to get a lot of good feedback for the hotends/kits he sells (the_reprap_kit_store).

Again thanks for all the replies and I hope I haven't made myself look a massive fool

You're correct, I hadn't spotted that one myself. Thanks!

Try Element14 used to be Farnell, I use them here in NZ and they are based in the UK
