Hi,

Is there a wiring diagram (you know written by engineers), other wiki pages
[reprap.org]

Thank you.

Thank you,

What I was looking for, with the above links combines It really helped me.

.. I did a code review, the code not the coders sad smiley

Meanwhile I found a pretty good one here [www.youtube.com]

Re: Wiring the board to prusa (solved)

Hi,
I am trying to build the Marlin software with arduino ide 2.1.0.5.
I am getting following error.
4: error: #error "Versions of Arduino IDE prior to 1.6.8 are no longer supported, Bump!!!

Solved / details
  • Bought repraps with discount display
  • Replaced the Sangalogolologologu board with repraps.
  • Installed under all power steeper modules all jumpers (3 jumper / power, in all 3 pair pins) .
    Don't rely on color wiring.
Get a multimeter and measure each coil on the motor, and wire as told.
  • Rewired steppers so each stepper coil would go COIL1->1A-1B COIL2->2A-2B
  • Pins on motors: On the board they are [1A 1B 2A 2B] and my motors are [1A NC 2A 1B NC 2B] ( 1, 2 are coils, A ,B are polarity)
  • Checked voltages on pots to be 0.58 -0.6V and on Z (vertical 2 steppers 0.65V)
  • Downloaded Arduino Ide 1.8.2 for linux and unzipped in a separate folder
  • downloaded [bintray.com] for the RepRapDiscount Graphic Smart display
  • Unzip it in arduino.1.8.2/libraries
  • Got latest Marlin
  • Edit config and went over Prusa I3 settings changes from here [reprap.org]
& uncomment following line #define REPRAP_DISCOUNT_FULL_GRAPHIC_SMART_CONTROLLER in the same header
  • Select board: arduino-ide 1.8.2-> Menu->Tools->Board[Arduinpo/Genuino 2560 ...]
  • Build, Check button from toolbar (would be 2 warnings in u8glib related to pointer initialization / ignore them)
  • Burn,
  • The display should come up with Marlin / printer ready

See [reprap.org] for your answer.

Sorry I have to quote this. In the image refereed here the wiring to the steppers is wrong.
Worst is that this image or similar images are all over.
Motors wires, red-blue wires should go to one coil, and red-black to second
and they should be measured on the motor connectors. Mine Nema17
are 1-4 and 3-6 for example. For reference this cable does the switch [reprapchampion.com]

They are not wrong

There is zero standard when it comes to color codes on stepper motors wires.

Every manufacturer does the colors differently, this is why there is entire sections dedicated to identifying which wire are part of which coil. But you didn't want that, wanting just the engineering crib notes.
