smoke from my ramps board

I was trying to set up an arduino/RAMPS set. Its late and I was probably moving to quickly. I connected the power block to the RAMPS board and plugged it in. I saw a quick poof of white smoke come up from the resistor (if that is what it is) that is between the two vertical, flat objects and the stepper drivers. I unplugged and investigated and discovered that I had put the power block in upside down (thats what I get for working late). Did I kill the RAMPS board? I am afraid to plug it all in and risk frying the arduino board. If the component itself is fried, I have a different dead RAMPS board I could get the component from.

Still learning,
Zach

Thats the reverse polarity protection diode D2

see reprap.org/wiki/File : D1D2.jpg (remove the spaces, silly editor keeps turning it into a smiley)

the diode sacrifices itself when you plug in power backwards.

Replace the diode and fix the power plug, all going well everything else will be fine.
