Bed leveling with delta and Hall-O
March 08, 2016 12:40AM
Hello,

I've bought a Kossel XL a few days ago and I tried to use my old Hall sensor for the Z-Probe, so I've created a mount for the effector, but now i can't find a working firmware. I tried the last Marlin, but when I send G29, the effector goes UP and is blocked against the end stops, I tried everything...
Even Repetier but it doesn't want to create a 3x3 grid ..

Can you help me ?
Here is the config file ;-)

I'm desperate.

Sorry for my poor English,

A.P from France

If it starts raising the effector after it starts doing the bed probe, the problem is you are probing outside of the Delta Probable Radius. You need to probe a smaller area so the nozzle stays over the bed at all times.

Yes of course, but the problem is that when all axis are homed at MAX pos, when I lunch G29, the effector is raising ! Instead of going down and start to probe the bed...

I would start small... I would verify that PronterFace can move the nozzle in the directions that I tell it to move. I would look at the output of M114 and M119 to make sure the machine is sane.

Mine is doing exactly the same thing.

It prints fine, all the directions are good. I can manually level the bed using the endstop corrections, and I've printed many objects using things this way. But now I'm trying to get the auto bed levelling working, and it is seriously borked.

M119 reports that the Z min endstop is not triggered normally, and then triggered when I press the probe.

When I home, all the carriages go to the top of the towers as you would expect. But then when I type in G29, the carriages go the wrong way and try to drive themselves through the max endstops.

This happens on 1.1.0-RC2, as well as 1.1.0-RC5.

I tried moving the print head down to 100mm off the bed before the G29, and that just made it repetitively jump up 5mm every half a second, then I switched the power off before it hit the top endstop.

We're not the only ones having this problem with autolevel on deltas, there's a post in the Delta forum with other people who have the same issue.

Here's the output of pronterface:

OK it seems as if the latest Marlin (changes were merged in a few hours ago, which address delta bed levelling) has sorted out the issues.

Here's a version that is working for me:
