several things possible. There is no change in programing tho, no line in marlin will fix this.
First was this working ok before? IF so what changed?
look at changes first.
Then if this is a new build or a printer your just getting figured out. Look at this:

the most common problem to make a motor hot is having the driver voltage up too high.
Make sure your system is not binding up somewhere. to tight or a bearing binding causing friction that the motor has to work hard to overcome.
one last thing, how hot? These motors can easily handle 50c or hotter.
If its too hot to keep your finger on at all, ok that's too hot
I treat 50c as ok, 60c as warm and anything over 60c I want to make it less.
