If you wanting to print more arty things like burst and vases then look at Deltas like a Kossel, if you leaning towards more mechanical parts then the voron/ hypercube corexy style would be a good route to take.by jinx - General
What printer you got. You checked for loose leads and shorts between the thermistors legs(doubt that's the cause but check) have you got a screen attached what's the thermal reading of the hotend and bed possible it's a thermal runaway protection kicking in that stalls the printer. But my crystal ball learning towards a faulty x carriage lead but we need more info to help.by jinx - General
hi, dvd steppers are no use for 3DP axis drive ,they may be ok for light weight pen plotters but nowhere near good enough for a printer. "didn't want to pointlessly invest in the hardware" a good set of nema 17 never considered pointless.aint sure about the echo message but you checked the baurd rates the same between software and and hardware.by jinx - General
Think I start tinkering with homing speed and ensure the end stop are solid and ain't any slight movement when homing after finishing. You using pla+ just 250c seems a little extreme for pla and you shouldn't need a 70 bed either 40c ample I thinkby jinx - General
Have you installed the drivers for the glcd into the ardunio library and selected the right lcd setting in marlin along with the baud rate. There a known issue with some of the glcd headers being reversed need to swap aux 1 goes into aux2 of the ramps as well as rotating the headers 180'. Am stuck on a mobile which has a mind of it own so hoping another called explain this a little betterby jinx - General
the clue to configuring the TFT 32, is in the config file first line. one assumes its the same for the tft35by jinx - General
am half alseep still but!!! why would an extruder need an endstop in the first place.by jinx - General
better fan ducts will help in any case, to be honest lower your expectation a little or just slow down with small objects,,, at these speeds a 32 bit board be nice but you gotta allow the layer to cool enough before the next. at 150 mm/s squirt of liquid nitrogen may help gotta say though the printer sounded good at those speeds if I attempted that kind of speed I loose a nut or two.by jinx - General
QuoteED3d Excessive isnt bad though - the brackets are only 3D printed so cheap and dont take that long to print. They also function to hold the bottom paneling in place. I think blind joints with the plastic corners will be enough to give it rigidity though and it saves me buying a ton of those really expensive corner pieces. Ill have a play around with it and see what I can come up with. corneby jinx - General
QuoteIf I scratch the glass with a sandpaper, this would help in the first layer? not one bit will that help... your option are kapton tape you get a mirror like finish but not 100% prints can/may curl and lift, glue stick another had a lot of success with pla but it gets messy over time.. the best option and one I stick with is thermal plastic build plate from andornot build plate there otherby jinx - General
you see the marlin folder , open that scroll down and you see the arduino logo next to marlin click that and your editor should openby jinx - General
Quotefoul_owl There seems to be no fire hazard as the bed can only reach 90C max anyway, if the thermistor falls off it's not going above 90. thats a false sense of security buddy,,, what will happen is the bed mosfet will ramp up the power to maintain/achieve the required heat... then you have your melt down. "This problem also didn't start until I updated my firmware (I wanted better bed autoby jinx - General
all metal hotends should be able to print with those materials, orignal e3d V6 with a harderned nozzle even have you printing carbon fila, the softer fila like ninja flex can get tricky with a bowden set up but not impossible. example just needs a kind extruder to ease it throughby jinx - Reprappers
it probably could but that looks a heavy gantry for a single rail,, thou I love being proved wrong with new ideas,,, this any help extruder linkby jinx - General
hypercube thingiverse link or a delta like the mini kossel be my first choice ,, remember 3d printer builds get very addictiveby jinx - General
QuoteMcDan It was already milled out on the back for an included MR58 bearing around the motor shaft. @the_digital_dentist and @jinx — did yours come with bearings to go around the motor shaft? no thats a new addition, you got a link to that one please.by jinx - General
think a few of us wondered about this for a while!. So be sure to enable Access Control. 3ders article does seem a bit sinister/scary that an attacker could cause a fire..by jinx - General
Quote2) the hole in the pinch roller lever that fits over the motor shaft was worn and out of round. There was a considerable amount of black dust (aluminum?) inside the body of the extruder. yeap and the dust is even nastier, not something I want to be sat near!. took a panther to reveal the problem. you know when its happening with the odd click and faint sound of grinding!by jinx - General
@robobuilder how many times you read this Triffid guide , well be your axis step are off. or you got some really slack belts!by jinx - General
you not seen rogue one yet, have you!! we raise the dead in the westby jinx - General
Quote and I don't know why. It was putting out 9.2V along the whole 12V rail no matter which way I turned the potentiometer.BIN IT!.. but before that . and am not sure it will help but, there may be a slide switch on the side for either 110V or 220V outlets check it matches your region.by jinx - General
Quotefound it had an output of 9.2V. the PSU should have small potentiometer near the terminals, turn that and you can adjust the voltage output to 12 V.by jinx - General
you using a 24v heater? QuoteI did some PID tuning yesterday at 230, and it was able to get there in maybe 10 minutes from room temp (~26C) that aint right, should take a little over 90sec (or so) to get up to 200C,, not 10 minby jinx - General
THINGIVERSE should pull its finger out,,, there whole reporting system a sham. file been up for an hour so far, 130 downloads ( there be a knock on the door for those of us in the UK!!! dont be silly with D/loads their always watchin.by jinx - General
Quote so why not the first suggestion "off topic"? am easy with that title but it just doesnt grab you like "have I got news for you " kind of fun moment.by jinx - General
QuoteVDX OK, created a "tech-talk"-forum - like the idea, but Tech talk" just seems wrong we talking tech all over the reprap forum ,I thought/thinking its gonna be a section for members to share off topic things the odd, strange, funny kind of thing, but above all things which could be of interest too other who may have not discovered it yet.. couple light hearted suggestion would:by jinx - General
any blender users willing to turn babe trumpy into an stl. funny as hell seeing them line the road to #10 reckon you got about 6 hrs till one hits thingiverse!by jinx - Tech-Talk
Quoteflydeprutten I have now lubricated it, but I'm considering drilling the hole bigger and inserting a nylon or ptfe tube between the shaft and the hole. I be more tempted to find a stepper with a round shaft rather than D type. had the same dust coming off, all seems fine though with a little grease on that section of the shaft.by jinx - General
