Up for sale is my MakerFarm Prusa 8" i3 3D Printer. I have had it for close to 6 months but probably only put a total of 10 hrs of print time on it. Here are the basic specs of the printer although the model I have does not have the V rail X axis. . The build area is 8"x8"x8". Its comes equipped with the .35mm J-Head hotend which allows you to print in both ABS and PLA. Along with the printer I wby Robdizz - For Sale
So I have a MakerFarm Prusa i3 8" printer. I normally use Slic3r for my slicing needs. I recently became curious about how accurate my printer will print parts. So I made a simple test square to see how far off (or ow close) my printer prints. In SketchUp I made my test square 1" x 1" x .25" thick. In the middle of the square I put a 1/2" hole. In previous tests the 1/2" hole measured 0.030" smaby Robdizz - General Mendel Topics
Check to see that you plugged the endstops in correctly according to the directions. I had the same problem when I built mine recently. Colin directed my attention towards how they plugged into the board and I quickly found my error. In regards to them being controlled, I would have to say they are controlled by the firmware.by Robdizz - General Mendel Topics
Max temp in my firmware is set to 275 for the extruder and 130 for the bed. Cura is asking for 230 from the extruder and 70 from the bedby Robdizz - General Mendel Topics
So I downloaded Cura 14.1 last night to try out. I went ahead and loaded up a STL file of a part I created in SketchUp and sent it to Cura for GCode. When I go to start printing; after homing everything the printer errors out on MAX TEMP. Now I tried the simple way to create Gcode and the expert way with the same end result. Anyone have issues like this? Is this happening because of the part Iby Robdizz - General Mendel Topics
QuoteNewPerfection QuoteRobdizzhow do you go about tampering with the firmware Have you ever modified or uploaded firmware using the Arduino IDE? I have not. I have only had my 3D printer for less than a week now and the firmware was preloaded.by Robdizz - General Mendel Topics
Now my next question, how do you go about tampering with the firmwareby Robdizz - General Mendel Topics
Quoten9jcv endstops usually have normally open and normally closed no/nc connectors I bet if you reverse it, it may work otherwise there is an invert endstop setting in marlin const bool Z_ENDSTOPS_INVERTING = false; // set to true to invert the logic of the endstops. NICE! I will definitely try that. After I posted last nights results I began to think about a solution and I came to the cby Robdizz - General Mendel Topics
So last night I tried my idea. Unfortunately I was unsuccessful. I went out and bought some aligator clips and grabbed a couple .004" shims I had lying around. I had an extra endstop connector from my recent build so I stripped the ends and attached the alligator clips to them. I then reinstalled the modified endstop connection back onto the board and fired everything up. Through Pronterface Iby Robdizz - General Mendel Topics
QuoteKryptonit3 That is actually a great idea, I do not see why it would not work. Would just have to add/remove the shim off the platform when you feel the need to re-calibrate. Exactly!by Robdizz - General Mendel Topics
Here is a quick illustrationby Robdizz - General Mendel Topics
So after going through the procedure on my Maker Farm i3 8" to get the nozzle a nice .008" above my heated bed I began to think of an easier and more accurate way of doing things. I noticed that whenever I tell it to home the "Z" axis in Pronterface it will raise the "X" axis up a little bit and then begin to bring it back down until the bolt engages the endstop. Once engaged it will then raiseby Robdizz - General Mendel Topics
If you are worried about a high print quality then I would shell out the extra dough for the reinforcing kit. The more rigid you can make the frame and the areas that move back and forth the better your parts will turn out. If the extruder can wiggle around due to a weak base/frame then the parts are going to show that. Also, when homing things like the Z axis, you are going to want everything tby Robdizz - General Mendel Topics
I just got done with my 8" build from Maker Farm. Since I am running Windows 8.1 I had some issues that the instructions and videos did not cover. As most of you know, Colin is just an email/message/text/call away and at 10:30pm last night we were troubleshooting and figuring things out. The customer service alone is worth the money spent on this printer. Today I started my first prints and theby Robdizz - General Mendel Topics

So I just got finished with my Maker Farm Prusa i3 build and when I was installing the X axis onto the frame I unfortunately found out that the GT2 belt that I cut to length was actually the wrong length even though I cut it to the length Colin said in the instructional video. So now I am stuck with everything ready to go except for a stinking GT2 belt. Anyone know where I can get some more? Idby Robdizz - General Mendel Topics
Crap, So I just ordered my Makerfarm i3 8" with the .35mm J-Head hotend...and Im a noob to 3d printing...Did I just screw myself??by Robdizz - General
