After a bit more experimenting this afternoon, I found the root cause, the interference fit between the printed pully and the stepper motor shaft would occasionally slip, causing some of the layer shifts, and once I solved that, I quickly managed to discover using the 0.5mm thin wall cube that I was extruding slightly too much filament (as you thought). Now I'm getting lovely straight prints, anby foufee - General
Turns out that the relay wasn't rated quite high enough, when I removed the relay and just hooked it straight to the PSU, it climbed to 113 in less than 10 minutes...Problem solved.by foufee - General
I've just printed a rabbit off Thingiverse on my Mendel which is finally starting to give prints that at least resemble the file going in, however on this print I noticed this odd line and a equivalent on on the other opposite side. The rabbit was sliced with Slic3r, using 0.4 layer height (I believe I have a 0.5mm nozzle) In the imgur album is the photos of the rabbit and line line (you can clby foufee - General
I've got a MakerFarm Prusa i3 with a Mk1 heatbed, it used to work fine, however recently it is no longer getting up to temperature. I've tried putting the HBP on it's own power supply switched through a relay off the RAMPS board, and that didn't seem to help so I measure the resistance of the board and it was 1.7Ohms, so at 12v it's only going to drawing around 7A (so only 84W)...What could haveby foufee - General
A bit of an update, I lowered the temperature a bit, the prints improved, but it looked like I had moisture in the filament (was not sure though, only had the filament for a week!), After taking to the manufacturer of the filament, they suggested going even lower, now extruding at 170. The prints are improving, still looks like I'm putting down too much filament though. I will remeasure the fiby foufee - Printing
Well, I dropped the temperature and didn't make much difference. I did how ever manage to finally wrap my head around the basics of getting a print from Skienforge, and managed to print the a movember ring quite successfully, just this hollow pyramid doesn't come out well, is it actually a hard object to print? Am I running before I can walk! Anyway, with Skienforge and the temperature set lowby foufee - Printing
Sweet, will try with temp around 190c, the nozzle size if 0.5 (I think; I've measure free air extrusion, and tried measuring the hole with a microscope and it all points towards 0.5 than 0,4). The layer height I've been using is 0.25, and the version of slic3r is 1.1.7.by foufee - Printing
I've got a PLA RepRapPro mendel (was tricolor, but I've now got it running a single extruder and have replaced the Melzi boards with a RAMPs board), and I've sat down and calibrated it (or so I think) to the best of my ability, measured my filament, used the median as the filament width etc, however I can not get the hollow pyramid print to print well I'm using 4mm retraction, printing at 205c,by foufee - Printing
