Quotestephenrc I would expect it to be M6, since that is what the threaded shaft is for the usual hotend for that style of extruder. Yes you are right, the reason I got the M5 is because someone from Thingiverse posted an extruder model that had M5 holes. I decided to go with the Metal one from Ebay... oh well, couple more weeks of waiting while I use my plastic printed one. Learned a lot today,by scarecrow2k6 - General
Ok now it makes sense, you guys are awesome, thanks . After reading the comments, I did some more digging and this is what I found: Youtube Link. I gotta say, the assembly is a bit unconventional, hence the confusion. Now that is solved, I am having another issue, the M5 Push Connector for the PTFE tubing does not fit the hole of the extruder, it is a bit smaller (hole of the extruder is bigger)by scarecrow2k6 - General
I recently bought this extruder: Ebay Link. Problem is there is no clear instruction on how to assemble it. The specific problem that I am having is that I don't know how to make the spring tensioner works. After putting together everything, except the spring tensioner, I am left with M4 and M5 (I'm guessing that's what they are) screws. For some weird reason every picture from the Ebay page hideby scarecrow2k6 - General
Yeap that is definitely an alternative way of doing it, never occurred to me though... lol Thanks!by scarecrow2k6 - General
I should have mentioned this earlier, the purpose of this is to calibrate the printer, eg flowrate etc.by scarecrow2k6 - General
Any suggestion guys?by scarecrow2k6 - General
Hello guys, I have been wondering about this for quite sometime. I use either Cura (Repetier Host) or Slic3r. What I have notices is that when I try to print single wall object, I get weird artifact in Cura but not in Slic3r (with "Detect thin walls" enabled). So I am guessing that in Cura, since all the settings are manual, I might have missed an option that is keeping me away from printing thinby scarecrow2k6 - General
Thanks VDX! Now it makes sense, just saw a photo on google two together.by scarecrow2k6 - General
Hello everyone, just a quick question, I am trying to buy a bowden extruder off Ebay (my printer in not fully setup so can't print one). The ones I have found on Ebay, gives me the option for Left vs Right vs Normal Bowden Extruder. I was wondering what that meant and which one is better? Thanks.by scarecrow2k6 - General
Reading all the comments, to me it seems that it is more feasible to buy the real stuff than to buy clones. The reason I went for the clone is because when I bought the V5 original, I saw the schematics on E3D's website. I thought, how hard would it be to machine one from the schematics. I guess clone makers always take a shortcut no matter how easy or cheap it would be to make stuff. That beingby scarecrow2k6 - General
Hello guys, I recently got a E3D V6 clone from Ebay. I have some hopes that it would work, the problem I have with it is that when I manually push the filament down by hand to get it situated, it goes in to a certain point and some plastic smoothly comes out of the nozzle but then jams. I took a photo of what the filament looks like after the jam when I take it out. I would really appreciate if yby scarecrow2k6 - General
Quotejinx seems the latest clones are using a 100K NTC B 3950 ±1% " source ali expresss" So which one would it be from the Marlin fw? Thanks.by scarecrow2k6 - General
Quotebdurbrow Take your multimeter and check the resistance at the plug that connects to the RAMPS board. Make sure it's giving a sane value. Also, check that you have the right kind of thermistor selected in the Marlin config file. Thanks for your reply. I don't know why I didn't think of it but you are right should have checked the resistance. The thermister was shorting out and giving me a Mby scarecrow2k6 - General
I recently bought a Chinese E3D V6 hotend. It pretty much came with everything, it came with a 100K NTC thermister or at least that is what the product description says . I am using RAMPS 1.4 with Marlin. I am getting 358C temp with a Max Temp error. The thermister is connected properly so I don't know what is causing the error. I can change the thermister but then I'd have to take out the one itby scarecrow2k6 - General
QuoteMechaBits Sorry to go on about rail supports () but an 8mm one (T shape) or 10mm, maybe others can fit the nema bracket base holes match with slots, so you could clamp it on a rod pretty much the same as the plastic solutions linked in thread. Maybe another above hotend could do same job for the carriage. Sorry I have no idea what you said above, can you please elaborate?by scarecrow2k6 - General
Hi elwood127, thanks for the link but I don't think that is going to work. The screw holes don't match up with the link of the carriage I provided.by scarecrow2k6 - General
Hello everyone, I am setting up my first Bowden setup, I was wondering where I could find the "base" or the X-Carriage (Please check the photo from link)? To be clear, I am looking for the black part that slides along the X axis. Here is the link: E3D_v6_Bowden_X-carriage_mount_Prusa_i3 Thanks!by scarecrow2k6 - General
Sorry should have said a bit more about my plan, yes it is a Bowden setup for 1.75mm filament. So for a Bowden setup, it is necessary to use a higher torque motor? Thanks.by scarecrow2k6 - General
Hello everyone, I am trying to build an extruder setup and shopping for a Nema 17 motor. While browsing online, I have found there are two types of Nema 17s. One is the regular one and the other is a bit shorter, so I was wondering which one to get? What are the differences between the two? Which one is better? Thanks!by scarecrow2k6 - General
Hello everyone, probably my first post here, I have been confused about something for quite sometime now. I own a Makerfarm i3 and since day one the Y Carriage has been vibrating while printing. It does not vibrate while homing though AFAIK. I tried dampening the vibration by "cushioning" the LMU88 bearings but didn't do anything. I guess there is something going on with the FW or the current setby scarecrow2k6 - General
