Ok. I did not have the com port correctly set in preferences and apparently the 'container in container' error was more of a problem than previously thought.
I've moved to a different (simpler) computer, and have the comm port set correctly now.
Now I run the host, and the command prompt opens, lights blink on the serial connection, but It never opens all the way to the GUI. This is all I ge

RepRap Host
I'm VERY new to this whole thing so please bear with me.
I just got the reprap host working tonight for the first time, after many fights between win 7 and java.
I keep getting the "container in a container' error on startup but have been just ignoring it since once I click ok everything seems to load fine.
I'm running teacup on an Arduino Pro Mini (atmega 328) with a pololu style stepper dri

Would it be difficult to implement something in the firmware to activate a multiplexer for multiple thermocouples off a single AD595 (or similar)?
That way you could limit the hardware cost for a heated bed and extruder, since 595s are so darn expensive.

One more question:
Male or Female .1" headers for step, dir, and enable?

I got a proto up and running with the 4983 chip. Runs very nicely with my 30oz-in nema 17 motors without any forced cooling (on a single sided board with no ground plane). I'm breaking out the enable on all 4 chips and tying them together so if someone wants they can play with it.
I'm adding a 100k pull down on ms1 and am debating the best way to allow changing the stepping settings. I'm 50/5

I'm designing a driver board based around 4 A4983's (same driver as Pololu) and was wondering if anyone had an opinion as to what features should be included. I already am using as much ground plane/heat-sink as possible, and left a lot of room around the chips so a single 4" x 0.75" heat-sink could be placed over all 4 chips.
Do people usually play with the different micro stepping settings or

Silly question. what is:
#define PS_ON_PIN
in config.h?
Also, where are the pin definitions for the extruder heater, thermocouple, and anything else not a stepper motor? I've been looking around in the code all day but wasn't able to find it. It's probably right in front of my nose...
Thanks!

ROHS - 13 years ago
I'm working on a set of electronics integrating the arduino (atmega328) and 4 a4983 stepper drivers.
I'm in the USA, and am in charge of a small contract PCB assembly house. Until a few seconds ago I forgot how most of the people here seem to be EU based. Anybody know how they screen stuff for rohs coming in from other countries? I realize it's not kosher to sell leaded PCB's there but is ther
