Hi, I have almost finished building my prusa, but have found 1 of the stepper drivers is not working. The other 2 are and all the motors are working too, does any1 have a spare I can buy as the person I bought from doesn't sell them any more. Standard gen3 using v1.2 firmwareby Qbert - General
Hi all, I'm just north of Cambridge, I have just finished my mechanical side of a pursa and about to start the electronics. Parts to still order are: hot end resistor and heated bed. So hopefully will be up and running next week. Like ur blog Lsutehall, maybe we can get together sometime?by Qbert - United Kingdom RepRap User Group
thx ageing hippy, I had a look inside the cable electronics, there is no RTS or CTS wired to the pins, so its useless! I found a site the tells you what to look for in the usb - 232 cable, I have just bought a proper usb - ttl for just over £11 on ebay.by Qbert - General
I have a usb to rs232 serial cable I got off ebay for £5. would that work with the gen3 boards? It has Rx, Tx, RTS, CTS & gnd pins. I'm hoping to get my gen3 boards this week!by Qbert - General
I was just wondering throu my old projects and I found one that used a pt100 ( to monitor the flow of solder paste), there cheap (around £3) and the temp range is well within the range of melting plastic (-70C to +500C). Has anyone used this device?by Qbert - General Mendel Topics

Ok no need to mess with the old pic controller, just bought the gen3 boards off ebay, I will see if they work with the CNC I have and go from there.by Qbert - General Mendel Topics
Yes I see why you would go for thermocouples now, thx for the update.by Qbert - General Mendel Topics
Thermocouples require an amplifier to get the correct reading from the metals, you also need conectors of the same material to read them correctly and the amp must be very close to these connectors, the most popular thermo type is K type with a range of -200C to +1350C. The voltage produced by these devices are very small and most DVMs would just see a flutter on the millivolt range, if you get zby Qbert - General Mendel Topics
Meny thx for the info Rich. Here is where I am ATM. I have a small CNC hobby machine with name 23 steppers, the controller board is basic stamp board and the hardware is made out of laminated chipboard. So not very good, but with a little programming I think I could get to to work with gcode, it uses a PIC controller which I have programed meny over the last 10 years. I would like to use thisby Qbert - General Mendel Topics
Hi all, You don't know how long I have been waiting for a project like this, meny thanx to the original team. As a noob to RepRap, I do have a lot of experiance in control software and electronics, so I have no problem in any of the build, but I'm a little confused with which electronic boards to go for, I would like to build my own, but my dextrity and sight is not what it used to be so I don'tby Qbert - General Mendel Topics
