Wow everyone would want a $800 - 1220 3D printer with those specs. May be able to get one in $3000 - $4000 separate NEEDS from WANTS See Understand terms deviation? resolution etc Remember 3D printers are in the stage of development perhaps equal to early dot matrix printers Instead of spending $1000 now then another $2000 later Look at a HYREL systemby cozmicray - General

Anyone got a good cheap supply for some red plastic to make safety window for blue laser 445nm? Plastic has to show bandpass diagram -- not transmitting 445nm Tnxby cozmicray - Laser Cutter Working Group
I am using 1.7W 445 laser diode rig from Jtech diode is driven at 2 amp There is a gold ring below diode that I twist to adjust lens and focus laser. Laser light only hurts close to focus point. I am "on the cheap" with respect to CAD sketchup TurboCAD Did all you guys get a deal on AUTOCAD or are just lottery winners? WALLY Backboard Why do holes in the backboard need to be only 5mm from edge? Hard to hold a hole in MDF very close to edge? Perhaps a mod here? I may make my backboard bigger to have holes more inboard. I should have looked closer at WALLY at NYCMF?by cozmicray - Polar Machines, SCARA, Robot Arms

What is the problem with using ABS, Nylon, Polycarb pieces? Why must they be sintered? Low RPM doesn't matter --- centrifical force put on blade, energy in blade ---- at what speed will it rip through buildings and bodies? Why do you need "instant" blades? Unreasonable development time?by cozmicray - General
There aren't many 3D printers out that have a 1m build volume. A spinning blade is a safety problem that may need special manufacturing? I don't think you would want to make blade in pieces? Perhaps a bunch of sections on a steel rod Perhaps a graphite-epoxy lay up may be better? Do you have drawings? Requirements? Plans? You must think differently to build a blade that is easy to produce anby cozmicray - General

Nick what printer are you using to make all your parts? What kind of fill density, what polymer will you use on printed thread clamps? Might this require nylon or polycarb? Have you thought about heating up a blank thread clamp (No threads) -- then clamping around leadscrew. You could heat up threaded rod then clamp (even with external clamp right at center)? Is this against the repRap rby cozmicray - Delta Machines
How will the leadscrews be tensioned? Leadscrew nut top and bottom tightened between bearings in top and bottom platforms? How will they be prevented from unscrewing? Screws with this type of lead -- not made for tensioning?by cozmicray - Delta Machines
Neat design. So how many tons of tension will be necessary to straighten the leadscrews? Are there thrust bearings or taper bearings at top and bottom? This requires tension or very straight leadscrews? Do they tension leadscrews at the factory to straighten them? I don't understand how the nuts and fixtures on the leadscrew are prevented from rotation? Does the geometry of the center spiderby cozmicray - Delta Machines
Make up a 12V bus right off your main 12V power supply. Hook up the motor fan to be always ON when the printer is ON. Extruder motor can't get too cold. Your RAMPS or other circuit board cooler could also be on this 12V bus. Your controller board can never be too cool. Your controllable fan for part cooling is seprate for command control cooling. No it was not clear what you wanted to do? I wasn't smokin anything just trying to put some information up on the forum. Quotesldx These are interesting suggestions, but we are not specifically looking to improve upon the 3d printing process. We want to improve the functionality of the finished printed objects.
