Just finished building a Prusa. Electronics are Sanguiolou. I've copied Adrian's Prusa Notes including his heat bed set-up with remote mosfet, power supply, wiring etc.
The problem is that whenever the heat bed switches on or off, the stepper motors skip steps. I've tried totally seperating the heat bed wiring from the stepper wires but no change.
I figure running a seperate power supply jus

The heater block I'm using IS brass. I'll knock up an aluminium one and give that a go. Thanks

That's the kind of answer I like! I can't print yet as my stepper drivers seem to have disappeared into a postal black hole.
I guess that if the temp swing does affect my prints, I could look at insulating the hot end.

My extruder heat swings +/- 4c from the set temperature i.e. when set for 210c it ranges between 206c and 214c when not extruding. Is this ok or can it be improved? I'm using Sanguinolou running sprinter and my hot end is basicaly Adrian's push fit.

I got some from Barbeques Galore. It's called Black Patch Stove Putty (it's just grey fire cement) rated to 1400 deg c. Comes in a 400g tub.
