Thanks for the input. Good to hear it makes a good difference. My one main reason to move to another design from a delta is the ability to enclose and use other plastics. Namely I'm interested in the ability to use HIPS or some other soluble support material. Has anyone had success in multi extrusion and enclosures for deltas?by rkfiske - Delta Machines
Hey guys, A little while ago I asked over in the corexy threads about upgrading my self built kossel mini over to a CoreXY style printer. Been looking more and more around and am considering another path that want available when I first built mine; metal parts. Few questions: 1. Are the metal parts from robotdigg accurate and with the price? 2. I am using openbeam 1515 with plastic corners, woulby rkfiske - Delta Machines
Quotedc42 It's a shame you gave up on the delta. Delta calibration is a 2-minute job if you have three things: an accurate build (not a cheap kit), a good Z probe, and the right electronics and firmware. I suspect CoreXY is better for really large printers, but I haven't built one yet. Maybe I need to spend some time and TLC with my Kossel! I definitely could use a better z probe and revisit myby rkfiske - CoreXY Machines
Hey there guys. I built a mini kossel awhile back, got it to print decently for awhile then suddenly ran into some issues and lost interest in printing. (New job and a few other life events). I'm really interested in getting back into printing now, but was always frustrated with the finicky calibration of the Deltas and the Corexy designs really looked much clearer and I really like the conceptby rkfiske - CoreXY Machines
Appreciate the reply. I'm no stranger to thinking things through, just wanted to clarify that the design moved away from a plastic base and returned to the wood base. Just looking to understand the timeline involved and where my particular parts I'm dealing with fit into that timeline. Hopefully I'll post up some build work later on. Hey guys, I ordered up some plastic parts to start my build and was going through the stl files on thingiverse and noticed the parts I received were different. The main differences is that instead of the parts listed as bottom_center and bottom_y_ramps and the other ones that seem to be the platform pieces, I have the fix_back parts listed in the dev/0.4.7 folder. I also have other parts that I sby rkfiske - Smart_Rap
Hey guys, I ordered a majority of my hardware from misumi (part of that 150 dollar deal) and they just arrived! I'm ramping up to order everything else I need, but I'm stuck at one issue. The hot end. Has anyone had any success using the E3D all metal hot end on the smartrap? I hear great things about this hot end and I would rather just start with a nice hot end right off the bat. Any help woulby rkfiske - Smart_Rap
I'm following along, I just ordered the hardware from misumi due to the 150 dollar off deal they had going for the last month. I'm having a bit of trouble sourcing the Huxley end in the US, do you know if there is a difference in parts between using a J-head and Huxley hotend? Thanks for posting your BOM as well, it's a great way to double check for me!by rkfiske - Smart_Rap
As an update I was informed that the frame is powder coated. This is a tempting kit as shipping to the US is 60 meaning a full kit is 410.by rkfiske - General Mendel Topics
I got a pair of pictures and a short video clip from them when I asked for some more information yesterday. Here they are if you guys want to check them out. He sent me a shot of the frame prior to the coloring, I asked him if it was anodized or painted and have yet to hear back. I'm interested in this as well, the price seems really good.by rkfiske - General Mendel Topics
