QuoteSpectreGadget I was trying to calculate my new z offset, but I must be doing something wrong. When I try the G30 S-1 command, I get 0.04. Could it really be that small? Yes it can be that small but unless you are planning on a 0.05mm first layer you might as well set it to 0.by DjDemonD - General
I was concerned about leaks but with good hoses, clean any burs off the barbed fittings, and proper jubilee clips, I don't think it will be a big problem. My delta doesn't seem to suffer any problems as a result of the hoses but they do add mass. Im using big tubing at present, but the cooling required is tiny so I could use smaller hoses and reduce moving mass further. Here the machineby DjDemonD - General
V6 dyze design water block roughly adapted to v6 heatsink so not that posh.by DjDemonD - General
Ended up being about £47 with shipping and VAT so still a pricey roll of filament, but then the XL kossel now has water cooling, titanium heatbreak (from Well-Engineered) and a tungsten nozzle. So it seems a shame to print boring old PLA/ABS with it, not exotic enoughby DjDemonD - General
I'm only aiming for around 45 deg C, the fishtank print gets up to about 50 deg C at ABS temps, it is very much enclosed, not loosely like most enclosures (not quite airtight but not far off). That's hot enough for me and for warp free abs parts. My home made PLA rods have been working well. Although the machine only calibrates to 0.2mm for an adapted fishtank I can live with that. I;ve got an XLby DjDemonD - Delta Machines
I'd consider adapting my motor plate design and putting it between bracket and carriage, testing it, and if it works for you then you might design something firmer.by DjDemonD - General

Quotejinx QuoteDj Testing it aside, why does a hobbed drive gear need to be hardened. Is mild steel not hard enough to bite into filament. wondering how the standard fairs with a couple of spools of carbon filament. Poorly perhaps but then something like a brass gear, such as used in a Mk8 is a cheap and easy to replace part. Its the argument for hardened nozzles, worth it if they perform as weby DjDemonD - General
@agniusm - it is a tricky concept as we may presume that 100% solid is best, but there has to be some level of compliance in the assembly for piezo to work, we are only talking about 0.1mm and this is not an amount which will cause problems when printing, as it is purely in the vertical/Z direction, not in the lateral XY direction. You can mill the bracket in some way, but please print one andby DjDemonD - General
I've never had printbite lift from the substrate, but I don't use glass, I bond it directly to aluminium tooling plate. If a part is a high risk for lifting then I use ABS juice over the printbite before printing and put mouse ears on any sharp corners. I've never had a problem getting parts off printbite. Once they cool they lift off, sometimes if I have used ABS juice it takes a little blade unby DjDemonD - General
Yes it a fairly minor change and one that mainly reduces support questions for us to answer. Once the polarity is checked and correct you'll never need a rectifier or to worry about it again. As for old tools, my Dad has a big box of spanners and wrenches use originally for world war two aircraft maintenance.by DjDemonD - General
I imagine designing a mount with one disc perpendicular to the other and attached to a probe of some sort would be possible. But I think Idris is right one disc is likely to be able to manage it witha very simple mount. Be interested to see what you come up with.by DjDemonD - General
Quoteo_lampe QuoteMoriquendi Not if you make it open source you can't, that's kinda the point. I'll do some investigation into the rectifier, however, there are developments coming that might make it unnecessary anyway. Idris *sh1t*, I just ordered the current universal version.... Bltouch tested (finally). Massive thanks to Chowa for sending me one to try out. Installed on duetwifi equipped machine, using the instructions in the duet wiki, without any major issues (except you need to comment out any M307 commands in either config.g or config_override.g which relate to Heater 3 (H3) as these override the configuration of heater channel 3 as a servo signal). Yes that might help. It is warm in there so even with two Precision Piezo 30mm blowers (other fans are available), the air being blown is still 45 deg C. Thanks though for the encouragement. I wouldn't recommend this build, as whilst it looks cool, and has been fun, it is all of the hassles of an enclosed machine (from the start) without being able to just take the side panels off, or lift the maby DjDemonD - Delta Machines
QuoteMKSA QuoteDjDemonD Good idea definitely worth considering. Depends if we go to a microprocessor or stick with analogue. It's worth thinking about as most issues are reverse polarity rather than anything more complicated. The other advantage of a software solution is that you can better protect the design from the thieves from over there. This is the difficult part. The only way we can be oby DjDemonD - General
Okay, so why not show my awful benchies? Here the first in PLA, with woefully inadequate cooling: The second, same PLA but with twin fans, nozzle jammed: The third in ABS (my preferred material by far): Now its not perfect, fans could be ducted to provide better cooling, especially as the machine is an always enclosed machine by it's nature. So printed a benchy too rough to show you but only had one fan. Then fitted the second fan and half printed another but the v6 predictably jammed printing pla in a chamber. So will unjam and switch to abs. Might have to drill a hole to fit a vent fan to allow the inside to be cool when printing pla.by DjDemonD - Delta Machines

Chowa - interesting results. The anti-noise piezo setup does seem to improve the range and std deviation. I think the lack of difference between sizes of piezo can be explained by either the fact that they are being used as vibration sensors in some applications in which case it probably matters little what size they are, or in the case where they are being used in compression or flexing there isby DjDemonD - General

Quotediego.trinciarelli Hello DjDemon, so your test actually works (as the board), by just unplugging the green connection i get the proper behavior. I found out it was bad wiring, one diagram i had of the board indicated the wrong orientation of the pins, so i was inverting +5v and TRG. Using the multimeter i was able to figure out the right polarity. Now i will try to configure Marlin and seby DjDemonD - General
