honestly can't hear what you're saying in your video but hey, what do you need help with? Looks like you've got everything you need and are making good progress!by Power3DPrinting - Polar Machines, SCARA, Robot Arms
Also, hi David Crocker! Love your ir sensor!by Power3DPrinting - Polar Machines, SCARA, Robot Arms
1200x1200mm is a rather massive thing to want, you probably want to go with a single arm SCARA or double your costs with four long segments rather than two, then you can just use Duetby Power3DPrinting - Polar Machines, SCARA, Robot Arms
My pleasure to help, there is a setting in the config.h to turn off the eprom and I just like to run a M502 at the start of every print just to make sure it is reset. You can adjust the scara settings on the same file under the movement settings, my experience is that most of the slow downs come from auto-bed leveling but the actual movements are passable when it is printing, there is a marlin veby Power3DPrinting - Polar Machines, SCARA, Robot Arms
Good grief, I feel bad about saying bad things about the guy in charge of marlin's official version... I really don't know his full storyby Power3DPrinting - Polar Machines, SCARA, Robot Arms
Thank you so much!!! No worries about it, I'm just incredibly grateful for your help, this project means a great to me and I'm not sure what I would have done without you I just finished commenting out the changes, I must admit now that I see it you have a very handy system for different kinematics. I'll go test things out and let you know how it goes!by Power3DPrinting - Polar Machines, SCARA, Robot Arms
Thanks! Helps clear up my conscious and hmm I'm honestly not sure I understand how our kinematics are different since both have joints in the same places and both your motors move the machine from its own shoulder like mine. Guess I don't nearly understand what I'm doing as much as I had hoped I did. Building a printer is a bundle of a lot more surprises I could have ever dreamed of haha. This is some Wangsama repetier style firmware, open source and I tried using it myself. I can upload and adjust some settings thanks to the tutorial videos made for it, probably the best documented SCARA firmware out there. I've had my own problems with it but how about giving this a try instead of Mk4Duo and we can work together to get our machines printing.by Power3DPrinting - Polar Machines, SCARA, Robot Arms
oops wrong forum I was supposed to post in, meant to post in another guy's thing, I'd be happy to share your firmware with him if he doesn't just find it here but it would make me feel a lot better about doing so if I had your permission.by Power3DPrinting - Polar Machines, SCARA, Robot Arms

Hi! do I have your permission to advertise your marlin version to others? I recently redesigned my printer to be right handed to make it more compatible with your firmware as well as others but configuring it is still a challenge, hoping someone passing by might have that golden answer. I tried following your diagram but it's hard to tell what I am doing is right or wrong. Homing is top notch bby Power3DPrinting - Polar Machines, SCARA, Robot Arms
Hmm well, I enabled the makerarm config, the firmware just won't upload to the arduino which is identical to marlin when you enable the makerarm config there, might be the same problem, sabatoged by this tinky guy who is working for maker arm, essentially, the kinematics are non-existent and the firmware has gone backwardsby Power3DPrinting - Polar Machines, SCARA, Robot Arms
Stock configuration uploaded fine, what did you change so I can see if I can bump into the same wall?by Power3DPrinting - Polar Machines, SCARA, Robot Arms
First I heard of the Mk4duo firmware, downloading it now to give it a spin, you've got a single arms SCARA right?by Power3DPrinting - Polar Machines, SCARA, Robot Arms
First shot at trying to print with your firmware, sorry for the late response I missed the email about your message so I'll go check out your drawing immediately! Thanks a ton for your help!by Power3DPrinting - Polar Machines, SCARA, Robot Arms
Great news! I've finished customizing the config.h, homing from pronterface is fantastic and then gives me control of the xyz axis from its interface so for the first time i'm moving onto calibrating things! Also, holy cow you have some cool videos, way to go! Some bad news, I don't think I understand the config settings as well as I thought I did and it might be a major contributer to why I amby Power3DPrinting - Polar Machines, SCARA, Robot Arms
Thanks and a pleasure to meet you! I'll try configuring it to my machine and I'll let you know how it goes! Really big relief after all the brain blender moments I've been having.by Power3DPrinting - Polar Machines, SCARA, Robot Arms
Holy heck nuggets, I just found the marlin_main.cpp, hallelujah I don't know what to do with most of it hahaby Power3DPrinting - Polar Machines, SCARA, Robot Arms
Hi, so it seems the SCARA branch of the RepRap forums is a bit of a dessert but update on machine, it is mechanically stable but the firmware is a nightmare. I downloaded and configured VitaminRad's Marlin version but outside of homing xyz so long as I leave the z probe turned off, there's not much else that I can get it to do as it ignores all the move commands it is given over pronterface. I leby Power3DPrinting - Polar Machines, SCARA, Robot Arms
Hello, I recently downloaded Marlin 1.1 to use its makerarm SCARA configuration for my machine. I simply copied and replaced the config.h and config_adv.h with the config files in the example folder and immediately hit a problem where the machine is dead set on having me define a bed size or something which I am not using. I even tried disabling it by adjusting the arm lengths to large values andby Power3DPrinting - Polar Machines, SCARA, Robot Arms
Hello, I recently downloaded Wangsama's SCARA firmware and I am in the process of configuring it to my machine. I have quite a few problems with the end stops and LCD controls, I plugged in endstops to all the ports except the z-max but when I order the machine to home all in a zyx order, first the printer moves 1mm in the z no matter what, then none of the endstops stop the elbow (y-motor) despiby Power3DPrinting - Polar Machines, SCARA, Robot Arms
Thanks a ton for the suggestions Trakyan! I've never heard of some of these boards before so I'll check them out. I think you're right having something 32 bit off the bat would be desirable, I'll try and get in touch with some SCARA builders I know and see if they've been shut down by 8-bit controllers.by Power3DPrinting - Reprappers
Thanks for the advice Trakyan, I get what you're saying, I wanted to start with something cheap that I could try hooking up a cheap $2 wifi module I found, since there's more support for RAMPS it helps me with the wiring and downloading the open source SCARA firmware. Inbetween all these shenanigans, it means if I break the board, it's pretty easy to repair. I am certainly going to upgrade the boby Power3DPrinting - Reprappers
Hey MechaBits, this is the link for where I found the 2A stepper motors, looks dodgy but I can hound Walmart down for anything that might go wrong. Thanks for the great tip on cooling the steppers, gonna pick up an extra fan just for that!by Power3DPrinting - Reprappers
Found what you were talking about the DRV8825's losing steps but that is only for 24V power supplies when using low amp motorsby Power3DPrinting - Reprappers
Thanks, that makes sense about the 0.4A motors. First I ever heard of the DRV8825's having a problem with their microstepping, got any sources? Also, if you had to choose between A4988's and DRV8825's for 2.0A and 1.5A motors which would you choose? I know there are some really nice TMC2130 drivers out on the market but just two of them cost the same as my RAMPS and Arduino. I think it's probablby Power3DPrinting - Reprappers
What do you mean by it not being suited for 12V operation? Sorry, still new to circuits. Let's say I used a 12V30A power supply and some DRV8825's, would that solve the 12V operation problem and the cooling for the drivers?by Power3DPrinting - Reprappers
Hello, anyone here know if I am building a 3D printer if I should use 0.4A or 2.0A Nema 17's with a RAMPS board? 0.4A motors seem to be the standard for i3 clones but I found some 2.0A motors for cheap and was wondering if these could only be used for CNC specific RAMPS/Arduino systems and prevented them from being used for 3D printer applications.by Power3DPrinting - Reprappers
