I configured netatalk and dropping a file to it was fast. I just put a shortcut on the desktop. for pc,samba. Of course printing the file was extremely slow, but that may have been flaky power etc. On a different note, I have never been able to print from sdcard on the printrboard even if i inserted the card and copied directly then reinsert, power up the printrboard. it allways stops at some pby Bitdude - Developers

Try diffent filament to rule out bad batch or bad section especially if not a known good supplier (even they have bad batches). Some colors are easier to print than others. Could also be a problem with the extruder motor overheating or drive current to high. I was shocked at how hot the extruder motor would get when i first started printing until I adjusted the driver current. It still gets migby Bitdude - General
I may not have the right term, but PLA develops more friction at higher temperatures. Try lowering the temp and or putting a fan that directs air across the non-melt zone (generally the peek barrel above the heater block). I experienced this myself. For me 185 to 190 is the sweet spot. It also depends on your hot end. Some have been designed to keep that area cooler with heat sinks or active fanby Bitdude - General
Why not look at repurposing something that already has most of the same goals. A cheap inkjet printer. Pick one that is new on market ( so its around for a while) and under $60. It already has two steppers, xl belt, pulleys, shaft, power supply, carraige assembly, a control board, limit switches. Or an older one of the popular all in ones would add two more steppers and second shaft (scannerby Bitdude - Developers
I setup the pi from these instructions Thingiverse pi setup. I could only connect at 115k. I also noticed extreme lag from interface buttons to the action occurring on the printer (Printrbot with printrboard). Pronterface on my Mac is almost instantaneous. I also noticed the power problem so I reconfigured all devices to the powered hub in the monitor which eliminated the power issues (mouse errby Bitdude - Developers
I have just started getting success with abs on plain Pyrex glass at 110c nozzle at 215c. First layer height at 120% and really pushinging into the bed. My Pyrex does seem to have a slight texture. Before this I used kapton tape and it stuck great even too well as it was difficult to remove the parts. I wanted to try getting abs to stick to the glass hoping the parts would pop off like pla doesby Bitdude - General
Of course all success must be balanced with some setback. Once I saw the first print underway I left it alone only to discover on my return that I only had half parts!! I had forgot to reduce the retract rate from pla to the lessor vale for abs and it had chewed the filament at about the halfway point!! Bobby Bitdude - General

It was a sheet that I applied to the entire print bed. But there is NEWS to report. After watching wildeyed on YouTube printing abs on plain glass I decided to give it try with higher heat.
