I have a question. I have read through all the posts to this topic, and I am trying to understand how the color information even would get to the G-Code in the first place. Is there a 3D file format that will hold the color information that is to be sliced? Doesn't .STL file format only support geometric information and nothing regarding color? Quotedc42 I have used Duet + DueX4 to drive 2 extruders, see my blog. The firmware supports 5 extruders. I've also used Duet + Duet shield, which is simpler but supports 3 extruders instead of 5. If you only want to drive 2 extruders, you can get a Smoothieboard that will do that without needing any add on cards. Hi David, I have been spending some time on your blog. Please help - I'm trying to gather information on setting up a multiple extruder printer. A few questions... 1. What is the current maximum number of extruders supported? 2. Is there a version of firmware that handles multiple extruders better than another? 3. Is there support for multiple extruders for a Delta, or does that really not matter? 4. Would it matter if I used a Duet or Smoothie toby ChicagoNative - General
The reason for external drivers is that I am just tinkering with the idea of using closed loop stepper motors (don't even know if it is possible). Plus, I would like to know that I have that option should I find that the added mass of the larger build require larger motors and more amperage than I can get from the built in or plug in stepper driver modules. I would love to work with 32bit.by ChicagoNative - Delta Machines
I would like to build my next Delta. I currently have a Rostock Max v2, but would like to build something a little larger and with multiple extruders. Are there boards out there that will drive a delta and three extruders, including support for pushing larger external stepper motor drivers? Any suggestions/recommendations appreciated. -CNby ChicagoNative - Delta Machines
