Hello everyone, I've got a printer running with CNC Mach3 software, but the quality is hindered by the poor software. I can only use Slic3r for making models because of the unique Gcode, and I really want a RAMPS electronics system. So, does anyone have any experience with the Iduino electronics? I found them on ebay, they are about $70 cheaper than any RAMPS set I have found. I would reallyby Adman234 - RAMPS Electronics
Well, I just did a bunch of research on the seemecnc model. Looks incredibly solid and accurate, more than enough for my needs. ^^There it is printing live. And also, parallel port is no issue. Cards are like 20 bucks. The guy who owns the place was giving me a LOT of great advice over the livestream. The mach3 software is AMAZING. He can stop midprint, adjust settings midprint, oh man itby Adman234 - General
Hmm... I would say it is pretty much a finished design. No longer Ingiegogo. They are for sale now on their website, in stock... Just do a quick "utube" or "ustream" search for "seemecnc" and you can see a few real prints. I was shocked at the quality. I think that for $350 (plus $40 for the bearing kit), I could get it and get it printing decently. Once it was printing, I could print a few uby Adman234 - General
Thanks. I was considering doing it that way, but I have heard great things about the makergear kit. I really enjoyed your blog BTW. Great helpful info. OK, I hope you guys don't hate me for this ... but I have once again changed my mind. I saw the indiegogo for the SeemeCNC H1 printer. WOW, I love it, and it is super-cheap! I like it better for the following reasons: -Parts are molded forby Adman234 - General
Just did a lot of reading of the RepRap blogs and found TONS of really great info. I could read that for hours. I will be going with the makergear prusa medel kit, hopefully ordering it by late April. I can only hope they remain in stock (with the heated bed and 1.75mm filament) until then....... Thanks again everyone. I will make a new thread when it arrives and I crave better prints. But befoby Adman234 - General
Thanks to both of you. I'm sorry if I came off as rushed or shooting for the impossible. I just want to get a printer up and running first. Then, I will start paying attention to details. I hope to get the best accuracy possible, even with my limited experience. I will OF COURSE play around with it, learn the tweaks, and get some experience to see what I need to do. I was just looking for some iby Adman234 - General
Sorry for the bump, not sure on the exact rules for this forum, but I assume a small bump is OK. If not, let me know. Found this guy: Any thoughts? For the best quality, a smaller nozzle and smaller filament is the way to go, correct? Along with PLA? What else should I get with that kit besides extra plastic? I already have basic tools, but should I get anything such as extra hardware/parts?by Adman234 - General
Just did a bit more research. Looks like the Makergear Prusa is the way to go. It has a large, heated build platform, a complete kit with minimal soldering and quality parts, and good parts support with a great extruder. Any thoughts on what else I should pick up in addition to this kit? With the heated print bed and 1.75mm nozzle, should I use ABS or PLA? Should I buy anything else? Remember thby Adman234 - General
Yeah, thanks. It really did seem to me like the makerbot products are pricey, and riddled with problems. I would prefer to go another route, especially if it could mean a big jump in quality and a lower cost. I do not remember the Ultimakers from about a year ago, when I was really interested in this stuff. Just attests to how fast this field is growing..... And SWEET JESUS those are some highby Adman234 - General
***ALREADY posted this on the makerbot forums. Hoping to get some better, more variety, less biased advice here.*** Hi guys, first of all thanks for the help. I had some interest a while ago in 3D printing, and since then I have gotten several parts printed by companies (shapeways and my school). I had some interest in the "cupcake" a while ago, but lost it. But now I am VERY interested in doinby Adman234 - General
Hey everybody Some of you may remember me from last week, but for those of you who do not, I am interested in getting my first 3D printer. After much consideration, I have decided to build myself an Isaac Rep-strap. I have the source for my Laser-cut parts, hardware, and stepper motors decided on. So now I need an extruder (Wades geared extruder looks the best), a motor for the extruder (I amby Adman234 - General
sorry, my bad. I didn't know what I was talking about... I see now that what I am getting ARE techzone.by Adman234 - General
Thanks for extrude advice, I will need to research wades. Thanks for motor advice aswell. We dont have techzones in America, though. Thanks againby Adman234 - General
Alright Ive changed my mind again, thanks for all of everybody's great input and support. I want to build an Iasic! With laser-cut parts from With Hardware from With Electronics from With motors from And then all I still need is an extruder, right? Should I homemade it? Is there a guide to making my own? Any glaring problems with this? Suggestions? Tips? Other places to buy parts? I rby Adman234 - General
You all have really helped convince me that a makerbot is not the way to go. I am confident that I could make my own Mendel. I am just a little uneasy about the whole Mendel making idea. I think that the mendels with metal poles and plastic/laser-cut pieces rather than metal bars (like the wolf strap) seem like something I could do. So if I got a kit like this and a set of plastic parts offby Adman234 - General
Yes, I have seen the laser cut kits. They do not seem that different than a makerbot but I like the self-containment of the makerbot. For the most part in the US, I have really not seen that much at all about 3d printers. Only one article in a magazine (about a makerbot) first got my attention.by Adman234 - General
I am only intersested in owning the printer, I plan to make 5-6 sets of mendel plastic prints and sell them on ebay or the forums. I just dont think that I could cobble together a mendel or a wolf strap or anything else like that. I think a makerbot would be my best choice because it is cheap and all the parts are ready to be assembled and have been tested. A mendel just seems to risky in my opby Adman234 - General
Thanks for the reply, I have seen all your stuff on thingiverse and thats what actually got me interested in mendel printing. I guessed that the actual printing process would be tough, but I cannot afford something like a rapman kit. I just think the makerbot seems right for my skill level. What are some of the advantages of buying a kit like the rapman? Thanksby Adman234 - General
I would really perfer not building one from scratch, but from a kit because I feel like I would screw something up Thanks for the advice, I'm probably going to get a cupcake CNC because I want the kit. The only reason I will be printing Mendel parts is to pay off the machine, not to make extra money Also, I tried looking in groups, the only closest one was in Kansas city, 200 miles away... I am going to buy a makerbot and plan on paying off the $1000 by selling mendel parts. However, I am new to this. Any suggstions? What type of plastic should i use? Should I use a Heated platform? Whos Mendel CAD drawings should I use? How much should I charge and where can I most easily sell these? Again, I'm new to this so please be nice Thanks everybody Adamby Adman234 - General
