Perhaps you all can answer a question I have then - on your PSU there should be a sticker stating what Amperage each rail is capable of, and also a minimum value.
I compared 2 of mine and the newer one has a minimum value on the +5V rail - as you guys have described. On another much older (10 years+) PSU it doesn't have a minimum value - and it's this PSU I've decided to use; the modular one I m

Would simply having a pc fan on the (+5V?) Red rail be sufficient to provide the load you mention?

Hi all,
I have a spare modular 500W PSU I planned to use for powering my RAMPS 1.3 board; but I am confused as how to many yellow and black connections I need from the PSU to make the thing go:
I have just tried it with one pair of yellow and one black cables connected to each of the 2 power ports on this board (as I need a heated print-bed), but after roughly 30 seconds of connectivity a coup

One crucial part I forgot to add to the list was the extruder - the kit of plastic parts I bought included the extruder body, and gears to make Wade's extruder, but not the nozzle as that's a machined part.

My recommendation would be this:
Decide which Mendel you want to build - personally I chose PRUSA Mendel because it has less plastic parts - there is the added cost of an extra motor, but even with the added expense of a 5th stepper motor that is about 1/3 less cost when compared to the original Mendel. Then:
1) Buy a set of plastic parts - I bought a set of poured resin parts from riboflavin's

I'm really interested in these plastic parts you're offering; but I notice your ebay page says you ship to the US-only - I'm in the UK so this is obviously a problem.. I just sent you an order through your polytempo shop. :-)

Hi Simon,
Do you have any pictures of what this is (I don't really understand from the details in your post.)
Thanks,
Alex.

Hi Sci,
Thanks for getting back to me. Having looked at this again at lunch, that does indeed seem to be the best course of action.
I will have to rebuild the Assembly from scratch though as the constraints in the .STL file(s) are lost during the conversion process.
As I do this sort of thing as part of my day job, I think it'll give me a good understanding of the assembly as a whole as well a

I'm here in Andover, Hampshire. I'm just starting out and plan on using Autodesk Inventor to create my mendel parts from. Does anybody know if there are 2d drawings of the parts that can in turn be made into 3D?
(The Solid Edge models are very good, but I'd ideally like to recreate them using a package I'm comfortable with. It would also eventually allow me to make improvements to the design.)
