Like Redhat does with Linux? Or Ubuntu does with Debian?
It began as an issue I had when I took a 3d printer to a hackerspace. and My laptop's version of perl was 5.18 and I could not use slic3r and the entire trip was a waste. to I investigated the ability to run slic3r as a web service so that I didn't have to worry about having old perl versions installed if I took my laptop out or upgraded

Hey all,
I've been working on a project for a few weeks now and I think I'm ready to make it public. I have created a web slicer service based on slic3r.
It's considered beta right now. But the idea is to not have to have slic3r installed locally on oyur system, worrying about installed dependancies and so forth. (PERL >= 5.14) It should work with all OS's and browsers You can upload an

Correct. There are no errors. Other than the message,
"Running Slic3r under Perl >= 5.16 is not supported nor recommended"
I've seen situations where models get sliced off or above/below the platform with perl 5.18.
It would be a nice thing to know why 5.18 was deemed not supported so maybe it can be fixed.

I posted the same issue here but even afer buming and being bumped there was no answer. So it seems that the devs don't know or doesn't care.

Job Shop: I make stuff!
Hey,
I have a lot of filament that I will probably never get around to using. Most of it is 3mm and my main printer is 1.75.
If you have a printing project and do not need or can afford an entire 1kg spool, I am offering my filament by the ounce or length (2 meter lengths). The site is Solar1.net. I am adding colors as I find them so if you have a special need, send me an email: da

Excuse me if this was asked before, But I wanted to know when it will be safe to run slic3r with perl 5.16? I'm running out of machines (Linux) that still use older perl versions.
Thanks
