Hi Guys, I live in the US and was looking to buy a 3D printer from 3D Labtek. From pictures, I'm already fairly confident about quality, speed, build volume, etc., but I was wondering about reliability from both the company and the printer. Anybody own one of their printers in the US? What's happened in terms of support? With such a small userbase, they could easily be scammers...... Thoughts? -Lby LucasGelf - General
Mine came, from the same Burbank show.by LucasGelf - General
It seems like the build instructions were only for the lasercut version. Are they the same instructions? Are there instructions for the printed version somewhere?by LucasGelf - Tantillus
I am looking to get on of the 3D Labtek Prusa i3 Alu Printers (except probably custom and a bit bigger) and I was wondering what people had gotten out of them. In the images of this thing on thingiverse (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:151251) I saw that this person used the Makerfarm Prusa i3 at 0.05mm layer height and got fantastic results. Has anyone gotten to this resolution, and does anybby LucasGelf - General
I'd prefer a bit bigger but you seem to be rightby LucasGelf - General
Anybody have experience with ReprapUniverse? This looks like a great kit with the exception of the build volume of 7.9 in * 7.9 in x 6.7 in. For the Labtek, I can't seem to find documentation on the LabTek website..... The mentioned i3xl also looks fantastic, but the picture of it was blurry and the documentation link was dead. I'm currently leaning strongly towards the RepRap universe kit aby LucasGelf - General
Definetly can't stretch to a MendelMax kinda level. I wish......by LucasGelf - General
How has Labtek treated you? Are you in the US? They don't seem to reliable and I don't speak polish so it's a bit worrysome.by LucasGelf - General
I have decided to get a Prusa i3 (or simlair), but I have had trouble finding a good kit. There are a couple things that I'm looking for. Build Volume - At Least 8” cubed if not more Durability - I would love metal Ease of Assembly - No soldering please Documentation - I’m not very good with this stuff….. Print Quality - As good as possible, with good resolution and speed Expandability - A boardby LucasGelf - General
Comparing Mendel 90, Prusa i3, Printrbot Plus V2, and Robo 3D. I am looking for a couple of things. For background, I have a Printrbot Jr. V1 that Printrbot has sent me parts for to convert it to a simple because it broke. What's better in terms of: Experimentation - I want to be able to tinker with my machine; i.e add an LCD or change the hot end Surface Finish - bare surface finish of printsby LucasGelf - General
It looks like it's just T-Slot Aluminum, some steppers, and a laser tube. Do you have documentation? How much did this cost you?by LucasGelf - Laser Cutter Working Group
By surface finish I meant the surface finish of finished prints. I asked about the extension of the build volume, because I was not sure of firmware limits, and if I want to expand in the future I would be curious to see if I could. I looked at these two printers mainly because: Commercial, company support Large build volume Hackable and big community Easily sourceable components I also alreadyby LucasGelf - General

Thanks, which rods would I change? Is there a limit to how big I can go?by LucasGelf - Tantillus
To Flemming again, did everything work natively? The power supply? The motors? Did you have to modify anything? Thanks, Lucasby LucasGelf - Tantillus
Hi guys, I'm pretty new to 3D plastic extrusion and I was curious to see what the cheapest plastic extruder available was. How would I build this? Would there be instructions? Thanks, Lucasby LucasGelf - Plastic Extruder Working Group
So after seeing the Tantillus and going crazy over how cool it is, I was wondering how to expand it if I were to build it. First thanks to flemming for giving me a lasercut version of the BOM I am using - done in google spreadsheet What would I need to change (including printed parts) to expand the build volume, preferably up to 200mm x 200mm if not more. Thanks, Lucasby LucasGelf - Tantillus
what size would you change the keeper nuts and bowden tube to? I want to go with 1.75mm because most of my other bots are on it.by LucasGelf - Tantillus
Sounds great!! I have actually modified your spreadsheet to work with the Tantillus Printed version but I had a couple questions. To flemming - what is Sheet3 on your spreadsheet? I was wondering if these were actually needed or of some help on the build? Thanks, Lucasby LucasGelf - Tantillus
I haven't yet build my tantillus yet, but I am almost done sourcing parts for the Printed Version and I anticipate to get it pretty soon. From the BOM, what parts would I switch to use 1.75mm filament?by LucasGelf - Tantillus
Flemming, did everything work? It seems as if some of your parts are from "not so reputable" sellers in China? Was everything fine and does your bot work?by LucasGelf - Tantillus
If I were to use these stores, would I be able to find everything? How much would it cost? I already have a 3D printer so don't include the printed parts.by LucasGelf - Tantillus
Where did the acrylic parts come from? Is this everything? Also, are there any everything-except-printed-parts-kits?by LucasGelf - Tantillus
Anybody else do it? What was the process? I'm trying to switch all my printers to 1.75mm. What parts did you have to change? I'm super curious about doing it once my tantillus is buillt.by LucasGelf - Tantillus
Dear Tantillus, I am super excited after seeing your printer and am eager to get started in building one. I was having trouble sourcing some parts though. First of all - the hex nuts. I have been looking on McMaster-Carr and I see that (for the 10-32) each hex nut is $2.63 (http://bit.ly/1bTl0Ml) !! So after doing some peeking, I have found that there are also left hand-threaded hex nuts at 25by LucasGelf - Tantillus
