ok solved it, the problem was that after downloading arduino 1.0.6 , and putting the sanguino and melzi directories into hardware i also (and shouldn't have) over wrote avrdudeby [email protected] - Mendel90
HMMM, new problem yesterday i was able to change configuration.h and upload. today "can't find programmer id arduino" which programmer should i use (it was set to AVR ISP mkII) not sure if yesterday was the same, but i did not change itby [email protected] - Mendel90
Thanks the solution to the COM port was to go to the control panel and remove all of them. ___ I a not familiar with marlin auto tune, assuming it is you had sent me a replacement hot head when the original came apart so i might have changed it then . I now see that the old file i had says J-Head Mark IV-B and the new file says J-Head Mark V-B . (how do I know which one i have?) _____ thby [email protected] - Mendel90
I'm trying to follow instructions in README.md of /nophead/Marlin on github. the first problem is that v22 of arduino is no longer supported , which version should i use? if i try to run 1.0.1 that came with the printer windows 8.1 just shows the flash screen and nothing happens . I run it with 1.0.6 after adding the directories in place (Melzi, Sanguino and tools) and then i can select the rby [email protected] - Mendel90
i have a j head nozzle, i don't have an aluminum block , but thanksby [email protected] - Mendel90
This also happens in layer 2 and 3 , not just layer 1.by [email protected] - Mendel90
Related question. My filament is slipping only when printing , when the head is up high, I can extrude to my heart's content. is this a matter of not pulling strong enough?by [email protected] - Mendel90
So, We've just reinstalled windows in the windows 8 laptop that was always used to drive the printer. AND Running windows/arduino-1.0.1/arduino.exe has the flash screen but does not open the program. even when "run as administrator" I dowloaded a fresh copy of arduino, copied teh Melzi directory to hardware, but there is no option for melzi in the Board> menu.by [email protected] - Mendel90
i've tried to follow to add the bed fan, but my melzi board looks different. where would i hook it up. also . not sure i understand this sentence " A plain MOSFET needs a series gate resistor to not exceed the maximum output current of the logic pin (and to prevent possible HF oscillation due source pin inductance),[...]" as opposed to what? as opposed to the BTS134D that doesn't need thatby [email protected] - Mendel90
I noticed that some changes have been made to the build since i bilt my machine over a year ago, should i pull it and take the old branch, or will the new parts fit together with the old machine ? i have some cracks on the x idler and x motor bracket and want to reprintby [email protected] - Mendel90
well, i reduced the Y_HOME_speed in marlin. instead of 50*60 i put it at 30*60 problem solved. (i tried just plain compiling and uploading the config files , as was suggested to me, but that didn't work.)by [email protected] - Mendel90
quoting here what i wrote to a friend who asked me what happens on g28 "" if is already in the home position, it moves slightly away, then hits the end hard but stops. if i move it to 0 , 0 , (center of the board) it hit home "grinds" for about half a second (about three clicks on the belt). if i move it to 0,0 and manually depress the y end switch. it moves slightly away, but then doesn't mby [email protected] - Mendel90
QuoteQuackingPlums Try loosening the front clamp and pushing it gently towards the back before tightening the clamp again. You've probably just got the clamp at an angle that prevents the switch from fully engaging. thanks but i'm pretty sure it is a software thing because it is ok in other software (pronterface)by [email protected] - Mendel90
the grinding noise is the belt slipping. but i don't know why the printers ignores the switch. if i press it manually, and use the manual controls in reptier host, it doesn't move in that direction, but when i ask it ti "home" it just keeps going. any help would be appreciated. i had this problem once with pronterface, but only once and a restart of the program solved that. i have triedby [email protected] - Mendel90
i guess the sd card ust wanted some attention. i had my finger on it, ready to pop it out as soon as i see the "init fail" again. - but it didn't fail -- "sd card ok" tried again, without touching it. "init fail" four times i tried with touching it ad for times without, and the results stayed the same. so - i can get it to work. i will clean the contacts and see what happens.by [email protected] - Mendel90
RE the limit switches not just to prevent damage. when you turn it on, before starting the print, it will home, the motors will run to the end, untill they touch the swich. that's how they knw where 0 is. are you sure it is doing nothing, check with the ohmeter . sometimes you may not hear the click. get a voltmeter, and check resistence between legs when the switch is pressed or not. (shouldby [email protected] - Mendel90
thanks!by [email protected] - Mendel90
thanks. if i do get a new SD card, is there a prefered limit ? (a friend mentioned that on another printer/ another board he could not use more than 2 (or 4 ? ) GB )by [email protected] - Mendel90
thanks nophead. i think i missed something , what is the advantage of printing from the sd card as opposed to printig directly from the computer ? can i disconnect the computer if i started a print from the sd card ? (also, the ini file sets the port to com22 - does that matter, i was using com3)by [email protected] - Mendel90
thanks, I just realized that i did not copy the printrunconf.ini to overwrite the initial pronterface configuration on the windows 8 machine i was running it with. not sure what damage that did. (or if it cause the meltdown . ) can i just put a blank sd card there? should it be formatted in any way ? again, thanksby [email protected] - Mendel90
so the metal bit came apart from the sleeve. while trying to solve the connectivity issues , i was playing around with the pronterface, possibly with the wrong settings. I had the hotend to 220C without the fan on, and tried to extrude, I then noticed that the metal head is "dripping away" oozing green plastic. I susppect that this has started on a previous print (a few months ago) the headby [email protected] - Mendel90
thanks, yeah i have an sd card in there.. so i don't know what that is. also, about the usb, for anybody seeing this, besides the data bits - i have set the following Data bits 7 (not 8) Parity: None Stop bits :1 Flow Control : None.by [email protected] - Mendel90
Hi, I've had the mendel90 for a while, it worked great, straight out ofthe box. i've had it on a shelf for a couple of month, and today I had some problems getting it started. (on another laptop) the first problem was connecting from pronterface, i'd press connect and it would just hang, i played with the baud rate , and nothing helped, then i went to device manager, ports, com3 and raiedby [email protected] - Mendel90
