Quotedc42 Kim, as I mentioned earlier, you might want to try my 57n-dc42 firmware which fixes an issue with small moves. You can download using the raw button on this page . Just to say I came on here as I was having exactly the same issue with some shapes I had designed. Everytime I re-Sliced at different settings it would also stop at the same point. I could compare two prints and you could seby Carnivalius - Ormerod
As best as I can investigate the error code 3 (assuming it's a standard SD error code) is an initialization error. I've formatted and error checked it (in case it's a similar issue with power cycling a raspberry pi slowly corrupting the card) and I've not been able to resurrect my card. I can use Pronterface but without the gcodes on an SD card the print quality is terrible. This has happened aftby Carnivalius - Ormerod
No that's exactly right the SD card is not longer being read. I suspected it might be an "over USB" issue. I'll persevere and see what occurs. Thanks!by Carnivalius - Ormerod
My SD card ready stopped working this morning, so I decided to try to use pronterface instead to do my printing. I loaded the Arduino IDE and loaded the config.ini line one by one. I then loaded pronterface and loaded the gcode file and commenced printing, I'm finding that it's incredibly stuttery to print the motors causing blobbing of the filament (this is contrast to the web interface which drby Carnivalius - Ormerod
I had originally got the could not read config.ini error when I first received my Ormerod. I switched the SD card for a new sandisk 4gb one and then it worked fine. But, today when turning the printer on I now get: Can't open 0:/sys/config.g to read from. Error code: 3 Configuration file not found I've tried reformatting the card, pushing it in and out and power cycling to no avail...by Carnivalius - Ormerod
Quotedroftarts What operating system are you on? Was the folder where I said it would be? Anything else special you had to do? I'm on Windows 7 and I just had to show the hidden folders (under the view tab of "Folder and Search options") in order to get into AppData, I deleted the contents and replaced it with the one from the github link. When I then loaded Slic3r it had "ormerod-0.5" listed iby Carnivalius - Ormerod
I've tried it a second time and it now seems to work. I think getting the Ormerod settings into Slic3r helps to solve a lot of these issues. I'm now testing it with support material as the only change to basic settings.by Carnivalius - Ormerod
I homed it first, then as I print it starts printing about 5-10 mm above the bed. So I then rehomed it manually with a paper sheet, it still printed about 0.3mm high and G92 Z0 wouldn't zero it lower than that (ie it always read that value whichever value of z I was at), so I lowered it 0.3 and rehomed, so it would be at the correct height. It's now printing fine.by Carnivalius - Ormerod
The first print I gave still had the issues of homing the Z axis too high then printing in air. I have since changed my setbed.g to only contain the bed and axis corrections (it did have extruder correction and z height in there), it seems more stable now, but I did have to manually adjust the z height down after it printed slightly too high still.by Carnivalius - Ormerod
That is incredibly helpful! I didn't know where to load the settings (last time I checked the build documents didn't say where), so assumed it was a case of inport in the slic3r menu. I now have ormerod-0.5 settings in slic3r. I shall attempt to make a print and report back!by Carnivalius - Ormerod
So I've had the problem that using Slic3r I can't get the prints to work. I load the "ormerod.ini" file found in the printer presets listed in the "printing" part of the documenttation, but my prints turn out pants. By that, I mean that it seems to raise the z-axis before printing so it's printing in air (this is despite homing z manually beforehand). To try and stop all the scrappy lengths ofby Carnivalius - Ormerod
I did have a slipping Y belt before, so I actually cable tied the two belt ends together. I can grip the bed and it doesn't shuffle. This y axis slip happened post cable tyingby Carnivalius - Ormerod
Well I created another axis set to check my calibration, then pottered out. When I got back I found that when it had gotten halfway through making the x and y axis parts the y axis slipped maybe? As the next layers were all shifted by 1cm towards the y motor. Looks pretty cool (and I'm impressed that it could print such an overhang so well) but useless to lose. The belts seem taught still...by Carnivalius - Ormerod
I actually have an intermittent problem with my homing. Though it could be my error fault, so if so please feel free. Sometime when I hit HOME Y in the web interface instead of moving towards the Y motor hitting the Y stop and then moving away to home (as described earlier) it just moved the bed away from the motor resulting in the inevitable grinding noise as it hits the end of the Y axis traveby Carnivalius - Ormerod
Ah double reflections are an arse, good point. I might dig out a telescope collimation mirror (don't ask and I don't have another mirror to hand) and see what the signal levels are like consistency wise. Bare glass is also good one to test I agreement. Their instructions list calibrating from 600-700 signal strength due to inaccuracy at high values so if thats a magic area to go to or if lower isby Carnivalius - Ormerod
I found I had to shuffle the duet electronics box along in ordee to stop clashing when homing the x axis. I also noticed I had to be careful the z probe was level or higher than the print nozzle or it scrapes off your newly laid plastic from the bed. Bit obvious in hindsight... doh (Also my last post was meant to go somewhere else... sorry)by Carnivalius - Ormerod
Just out of interest. The bed has metal foil attached to reflect the ir energy from the z probe. Would this not work if the glass plate was replaced with a mirror? There might be some losses by the travel in and out of the glass but the higher albedo should compensate for it (the foil isn't as reflective as a mirror) It would enable much more sophisticated bed compensation (if the duet can handleby Carnivalius - Ormerod
I was able to get the browser working. Upon trying M503 in the Arduino IDE, I got a read error. So I went to co-op and bought a 4gb sandisk. Once I'd copied the files to it, it worked right off the bat.by Carnivalius - Ormerod
From my understanding the Z-probe (height) also acts as the X-axis (boom) stop. You should see that there's a bit of plastic that covers it when it returns all the way. I've yet to get the control set up as I'm a novice with pronterface so I can't check it on mine.by Carnivalius - Ormerod
I have the same issue with not being able to connect over a network with the printer. I have tried a couple of routers lying about and no luck sadly.by Carnivalius - Ormerod
I was able to revive it after letting it sit for several hours. But in the construction steps having a "this pin to this pin" for it would be useful as they are not obviously labelled (for me anyway).by Carnivalius - General
I'm right in thinking that if I hook up the power (coming from the psu board) the wrong way to the screw terminals on the duet board I'll kill it. I think that's what I've done as the duet now only displays one red led (and no leds on the ethernet port). Just want confirmation or a fix incase it's recoverable.by Carnivalius - General
The hot end fan needed one of the pins taking out so it could be plugged in. The wiring picture and diagram differ however, the diagram says the row below and the picture shows it on the row above (I went with the wiring diagram). The Y-EndStop in the wiring picture has a three connector (the middle is left empty), but mine was a two connector, so I had to pop a pin out again).by Carnivalius - Ormerod
I've had great difficulty constructing the Ormerod myself as it's a case of hunting for the part that matches the picture and ignoring the text. Though the build instructions are a lot better in the last few days. The real issue I've had at the moment is wiring it up, the loom is premade and the connector configurations on the supplied loom are not the same as those in the pictures so I can't pluby Carnivalius - Ormerod
