I had almost decided for the D-Bot already when I found the VORON printer. Looks a bit neater and I tend to like those aluminum extrusion corners better. It uses smooth rods instead of linear rail however. Is that considered worse? I prefer to pick a design and go with its BOM (perhaps with just minor adjustments). I have neither time nor knowledge to design one myself. edit/ Hmm, maybe I was coby bitfield - CoreXY Machines
Any news wbwing? Did you decide on a printer? I currently own an Ormerod Mk1 that I struggle a lot with. Too much to enjoy the world of 3D printing to be honest. That's why I recently have been looking into building a new, more rigid one. I have friends with the Prusa i3 and they are all very happy with it. However, I find the step from Ormerod to Prusa i3 a bit boring for some reason and I keepby bitfield - CoreXY Machines
Is it that simple? That end is just a mirror of Ormerod Mk1?by bitfield - Ormerod
Thank you all! I have reached out to appjaws1 to see if I can get his/her models. Otherwise I might just as well try VortyZA's approach. Since I have Ormerod 1 I can't go with fotomas' solution out-of-the-box.by bitfield - Ormerod
Maybe I should give this a try? The Dropbox links gives 404 though.by bitfield - Ormerod
I have a typical case of a twisted Y-axis. However, I'm not entirely sure how to fix it. Is there a good sum up somewhere? I'v read that I should loosen the screws that attaches the end parts to the printed parts. I tried that but don't feel it allows for much movement. Perhaps I'm just doing it wrong? I've only tried the non-motor end. Perhaps I should give the other end a try? That needs soby bitfield - Ormerod
Thank you. Another problem, which I can't seem to find a solution for in the upgrade notes, is that I need to re-home after a print is done.by bitfield - Ormerod
How am I supposed to compensate for this when I only have one screw in X200 at Y100 to work with?by bitfield - Ormerod
Since bumping from dc42's firmware 1.09 to 1.17 my printer now retracts the same quantity of filament as has been printed if I pause and cancel the print. Why is that?by bitfield - Ormerod
Thank you. A lot better now. This 3D view is really helpful.by bitfield - Ormerod
I have now replaced the MDF sheet with the metal one from ddmetalproducts that I ordered long time ago. The bed leveling seems to be pretty bad still. What is acceptable here? I'm also not sure about the approach for doing manual bed leveling with my Ormerod 1. I have the original screws going through heat bed, then two M3 nuts and then through the metal in the bottom and then finally an M3 nut.by bitfield - Ormerod
This doesn't look too good does it?by bitfield - Ormerod
I don't have a cat Actually both the nut and the rod is original so I should probably go ahead and buy myself some parts for christmas present. Thanks!by bitfield - Ormerod
The z-axis is making a bad noise, squeaking and scratching. Also there's some residue of something, on the table under the z-axis motor. Like powder. Do I need to treat the rod in anyway?by bitfield - Ormerod
Last two days I've experienced it twice as well. Last time I was printing four pieces of a small component. I realised it first when print was done so I haven't really seen it happening live. It slipped 6-8mm on x axis. In my case I think it was caused by the axises not being oiled enough. The print after that the whole nozzle part came loose from the x axis bearing. Since then I've lubricated thby bitfield - Ormerod
I've been messing around a bit with config files recently so I'll see if I can reproduce it as well. I don't think I could this morning. So it might be a non-issue.by bitfield - Ormerod

I'm not entirely sure how I should set M208. I want Y0 to be defined as my current Y8. X0 seems to be fine already. My current config looks like this: M208 X214 Y210 Z200 ; set axis maxima (adjust to suit your machine) M208 X-8 Y0 Z-1 S1 ; set axis minimum (adjust to make X=0 the edge of the bed) Should the last line read M208 X-8 Y-8 Z-1 S1?by bitfield - Ormerod
What does Z-1 mean in M208 X-8 Y0 Z-1 S1 ? Nevermind, I get it. The minimum accepted Z value.by bitfield - Ormerod
It's completely private. Just don't want to have to bother about securing the web site with passwords and stuff. I could always write a screen scraper myself but the duet web server is already a bit tricky on browser support. Also, I would have to "Connect" to it to get the data back. Not sure what "Connect" actually does (other than enabling the web interface of course).by bitfield - Ormerod
Sorry, I should have been more precise. I'm using your IR sensor. I'm doing Z homing in X100 Y100 (and 5 point bed compensation) and I already have the aluminium X arm from DaveK (which is great btw!). Also, I have a piece of white paper below the glass bed. An attempt for better Z homing way back. Can I safely remove that since I'm using your IR sensor? Maybe it's causing issues? Or does that mby bitfield - Ormerod
My Ormerod is in great shape right now, thanks to a lot of helped on this forum. Especially from dc42. However, two things still bother me. 1) Home all + auto bed compensation almost works without any manual labour. The only problem is homing Z where the nozzle is too close to the bed. Maybe 0.4 or so. Therefore, I always to Home all, then set Z to +0.4 and reset Z0, before doing auto bed compby bitfield - Ormerod
I would like to expose a print status page over internet that is not capable of changing any state of the printer. More or less just show what's on "Print Status" page. Would that be possible somehow? I'm willing to relay that page through a server on my own if that would be a solution. Like a web site running on Raspberry Pi or similar that reads data from printer and expose print status.by bitfield - Ormerod
Now I experienced issues uploading the following file. It just didn't work. Got AJAX error after 20-25%. After 5 or so tries the Duet wasn't responding at all and I had to restart it.by bitfield - Ormerod
I also see the same message as a dialog if I manually go to, say X20, Y20.by bitfield - Ormerod
I see a lot of 21:1710Error: Triangle interpolation: point outside all triangles! 21:17:10Error: Triangle interpolation: point outside all triangles! 21:17:10Error: Triangle interpolation: point outside all triangles! in the g code console. You were right about distance between bearing and hobbed insert. I disassembled it and filed up the hole even more and now the problem is gone.by bitfield - Ormerod
I'm using PLA. Pardon me but I have no idea what a spring loaded extruder is . It's Ormerod 1 but I picked this extruder drive block this time: I had to file up the hole where the bearing and hobbed insert goes. It's not very uncommon for me to have to file up holes and I wouldn't be surprised if I could fix that with some calibration somewhere. But I'm still in a mode where I try to tweak thinby bitfield - Ormerod
My extruder drive block broke today so I had to print a new one. It went fairly well, I had to file up the hole a bit where the big gear is sitting. Anyway, it's re-installed but now I have problems extruding. For some reason I had to use a lot of force to extrude while re-inserting the filament. The weird thing was, if I retracted filament I could easily extrude again up until the point where Iby bitfield - Ormerod
