Began work on my new Web Interface for the Ormerod, Design pretty much complete, moving onto the functionality now.by iamburny - Ormerod
Great, I will start re-designing the x-runner bearing mount to be adjustable and to also include a ~4mm space/slot for a FSR400 force sensor you linked earlier, so a relaxation of force e.g. greater electrical resistance will indicate the head touching the bed. FSR 400 Datasheet also for sale on ebay here Mattby iamburny - Ormerod
Quotedc42 You could have one force-sensitive resistor on each corner of the bed, then you could still do automatic bed compensation. Unlike the IR sensor, it wouldn't require any calibration because the software would only need to look for a change in resistance, not an absolute value. Ooh! now that's sounds like great idea, it may even be possible to mount them under the glass bed to avoid damaby iamburny - Ormerod
Quotekwikius Quoteiamburny I'd much favor a dedicated Z homing location and some sort of resistive pressure sensor like this, it would require a perfectly clean nozzle to be accurate, but should be fairly simple to rig up and wouldn't require adding more complicated electronic to the moving hot end. Matt So This would be attached somewhere on the bed and the nozzle move down on to it? I like itby iamburny - Ormerod

I have come to the conclusion that I'm not happy leaving my Ormerod unattended while running, I tend to check on it every hour or so while i'm in the house, and never leave it running over night or while out of the house. I completed my largest print so far last night 148mm high and its beautiful, print quality is spot on, no part cleaning needed, very satisfying, however it required me waitingby iamburny - Ormerod
Thanks i'll be making one of these =)by iamburny - Ormerod
Yes, that's what I did, takes a little time for the thingiverse servers to customise the model for you but seem ok so far, its printing it as I type Re: The wife, that does sound very very familiar, I'm thinking of printing her a "reprap widow" badge, not sure how well that will go down though!! Mattby iamburny - Ormerod
Nice print Tim, I was just looking at that very part on thingiverse to see if i could scale it down to use as bearings for my 1kg filament spool. Mattby iamburny - Ormerod
Fantastic are the stl's on thingiverse?by iamburny - Look what I made!
@Rory166 maybe this Carbon Steel rod is more suitable, even mentions the same linear bearings Mattby iamburny - Ormerod
@markbee You can download the STL from the tinkercad link (Download for 3D Printing) and I have attached to this post aswell. my duet is fixed the same as Treth with just the 2 screw on the right hand side, holds fine, only a teeny bit "flappy" on the left end. Mattby iamburny - Ormerod
I've started to compile a parts list here http://goo.gl/87Wrzg feel free to edit and update Mattby iamburny - Ormerod
Exhaust Duct Mark I Needs some modification I think, I made the 1mm thick to keep the weight down, maybe increase that to 1.5mm Tinkercad Modelby iamburny - Ormerod
Hi Hushesie In my experience (a single print!) enabling support material is as simple as checking the appropriate box in slic3r (in Print Settings). This will then generate a zig-zag like column beneath any overhang, Sadly I didn't photograph the print I did with supports. It was very easy to remove and didn't seem to use an excessive amount of extra filament. Mattby iamburny - Ormerod
Hi Gampie Technically the printer isn't actually connecting to the Internet, however the HTML page it serves to your browser (reprap.htm) contains code which needs to download some commonly used Javascript librarys from the Internet, its nothing to worry about but its worth knowing that if you don't have a constant internet connection then this will cause the web interface to fail. see the beloby iamburny - Ormerod
Excellent! Thanks Markus, i'll be printing of of those next Like you transparent Duet case btw Mattby iamburny - Ormerod
I also being a newbie designer was shocked how easy tinkercad is to use, even my kids (6 & 8yrs) have drawn things for me to print out. its completely web based and exports STL's that go nicely into Slic3r. I'd recommend giving it at least a passing glance, maybe even complete the excellent newbie tutorial www.tinkercad.comby iamburny - Ormerod
Very nice Markus, I guess we would need 2 x longer cap head screws for that? I have already had to drill out the two lower screw holes on my fan so the cap heads sit slightly countersunk therefore giving slightly more thread to attach the ally block. I roughly sketched this in tinkercad to clip over the fan, however support is an issue i need to resolve first! Mattby iamburny - Ormerod
If I have problems removing a peice, I remove the glass then use an air duster upside down to rapid cool the piece/bed works great Mattby iamburny - Ormerod
Rory, I think you are right about the reel being 1Kg the ebayer i purchased from has offered a discount price for future purchases as compensation. I don't have the tools to accurately measure the filament diameter so a fair amount of trust and/or luck is involved! My build went very well and I thoroughly enjoyed it (might well do another), I spent about 7-8 hours in total to complete the harby iamburny - Ormerod
The ebay seller id is "printme3d" http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/131063055447?var=430236695414&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649 1.4kg filament is approx 450m for £18.49 although when delivered the reel weighed 1.2kg (including spool weight) so I've complained about that and hoping to get a partial refund. Mattby iamburny - Ormerod
I took the pludge and ordered some cheap orange filament from ebay totally expecting it to be inferior to the original white that was supplied. I got around to trying it today, I did a live switch over, feeding the new filament manually until the extruder gear had hold of it. I must say i'm very very pleased, the quality of the first print with this filament is excellent maybe even better thanby iamburny - Ormerod
Here - Here! Excellent job so far team, keep up the great support =) Mattby iamburny - Ormerod
I too have the same problem with the unreliable webserver, being a web developer by profession i looked into it a little closer, below is some of my findings. 1. The ormerod webserver only servers one .htm file "reprap.html" all other files in the www directory are not used, the javascript/image/ico files are downloaded by your browser from github.com or reprappro.com every time you run the inteby iamburny - Ormerod
