So I had some time and done an inspection of wires and connectors. I had some burns here, so I re-crimped all the wires and changed the connector. The back of the ATX PSU adapter looks like this Wires in the VIN terminals are all tight, nothing loose. The motherboard is all ok, I didnt see anything out of the ordinary. What I did experience after all the fixes is a momentary drop in poby Sardi - Ormerod
Dude, Im looking at your mods, and this is like Ormerod porn tbhby Sardi - Ormerod
I actually have one of these laying around, 300W, 12V, 25A, its not fanless, and the fan is pretty noisy Is a 300W psu really enough for Ormerod 1? Considering I got the printer with a 550W psu. p.s. I did put "Ormerod 1 owner" in my signature, but for some reson my signature doesnt show :/by Sardi - Ormerod
All the screws on both terminals were tight, but I think I might have found the culprit This pin is a bit burned, could this be the source of my problem?by Sardi - Ormerod
Thanks for the detailed clarification My psu is a pc psu and I am really not comfortable taking it a part, especially when I never soldered anything in my life.. First I will try to find another PSU just to confirm that it really is the PSU at fault.by Sardi - Ormerod
Lately I noticed that my leds on the X axis are flashing simultaneously with the red led on the hot bed. They are connected directly to the psu, and the psu I am using is the same 550W psu I got with ormerod 4 years ago. I disconnected them now cause its hard to be near it from all the blinking I hope its the psu, and not the board :/by Sardi - Ormerod
Quoteaniron You are speaking of replacing the z-axis (up-down) rather than the x-axis (parallel to the cantilever arm) I presume, but you want to install an endstop switch for the x-axis? You are right, I wrote wrong (wanted to edit my post, but couldnt) Thank you for the explanation, I will report back when the upgrade is done Ormerod 2 tr8 DirectDrive Z Axis Redesign - this is the post I aby Sardi - Ormerod
Hi all, I am about to replace my x-axis 5mm rod with an 8x8rod attached directly to the stepper motor. Since Im using this sensor made by DC42 Im going to lose about 1cm of printing space near the Z axis since the X rod will be that closer to the printing plate. 1cm is not much now to think of it, but if I can make it not to lose any, why not. I was thinking of puting a limit switch on theby Sardi - Ormerod
Welcome back Current firmware is 1.20 (at least the one I am using). You are at the right github page, at the end of the page you can find this "Duet 06 and 085 users should install RepRapFirmware.bin and DuetWebControl-1.21.2-dc42.zip."by Sardi - Ormerod
Your design was the one that got me thinking about this, so thank you for that However, since I am not in the UK, the rod+motor+delrin nut would cost over 60 pounds, and I cant do that right now. So Im going for the coupler version, but a non flexible one. Im just thinking what kind of rod do I need now, 8*8, 8*4 or 8*2. The 8*2 seems the most similar to the M5 thread I have right now.by Sardi - Ormerod
I am having the hardest time finding the threaded rod 8*8, length max 400mm.... Anyone knows where I can order one of those? EDIT: Or should I be looking out for 8*2 or something else?by Sardi - Ormerod
True, I have one laying around doing nothing. But I wouldnt know if there is anything to change in the config.sys file for that setup to work, nor where would I plug in the new switch on the board. Right now the probe is acting as both an end switch and a height probe.by Sardi - Ormerod
Here is Another Z axis upgrade , also a good one. The one in the last post was inspired by this one. My issue here will be with the type of IR probe I have mounted, I am afraid I will loose about 2 cm of printing area because the IR probe trigger pad would have to stop the probe at the position that is on the photo.by Sardi - Ormerod
This seems to have come to a halt, but what I am doing is upgrading my Z axis. I was never too happy with 2 gears on the Z motor, so Im going to print these parts and upgrade to a direct drive. Ormerod 2 Direct Driveby Sardi - Ormerod
Ive been using ormerod 1, since 2014, and have bought Tevo Tarantula dual nozzle/big bed last year, Ive assembled it, but have not used it yet.by Sardi - Ormerod
It was in the right place (sys folder), I created it via web interface/system editor. Dont know how, but now it works. I put M117 TEST MSG at the start, sent G32 code, the message was displayed and the auto leveling was done.by Sardi - Ormerod

Isnt G32 supposed to triger auto bed leveling? It just opens the automatic calibration results and does nothing.by Sardi - Ormerod

AFter update to 1.20 home X not working correctly. I have followed all instructions but the Home X button only moves the head a bit forward and homes it wherever it is at that point. Doesnt go back to 0 and homes there. I have added M574 X1 S2 to config.g I have M574 X0 Y2 Z1 S1 in the config.g also, should I remove that or? This is the probe Im using.by Sardi - Ormerod
@DC42 any updates on this behavior of the X Im having? I still home the X manually because of this issue.by Sardi - Ormerod

I was going to upload the firmware and was following your "whats new.md" file but was unable to upload. 1) I got this msg from the web interface M997 S0 Can't rename file or directory 0:/sys/RepRapFirmware_120.bin to /sys/RepRapFirmware.bin Error: In-application programming binary "iap.bin" not found 2) You wrote when uploading from 1.17e onwards to upgrade iap.bin or iap4e.bin to latest versby Sardi - Ormerod
Quoteormerod168 Quotedc42 The ribbon cable is very reliable, so I don't see any reason to replace it as long as you are using a Duet 0.6 I highly agree, never did fail on my two Ormerods eh, I had a break in the ribbon thermistor cable, so had to connect the thermistor to the 2 pins located on the side of the ribbon cable pins.by Sardi - Ormerod
