Oooh, I like the looks of that. Looks like it's still in the pre-order stage, though.by bobtiki - General Mendel Topics
I have a MakerGear Prusa Mendel kit that I've had for a couple of years, and it's served me well. However, the heater core just died. Aside from rebuilding the nichrome wire + ceramic clay heater core, or getting a new heater from MakerGear, what other hot end/extruder upgrades do you think I should consider? Drop-in for the GrooveMount might be nice, but I have access to another printer to makeby bobtiki - General Mendel Topics
HA! Really fixed this time, I swear. F5000 is perfectly reasonable. All I had to do is turn up the pot a tiny bit on my Z stepper driver. Perhaps it got jostled during the move.by bobtiki - Reprappers
Think I figured it out. After attempting to fix it with a Z-offset, and trying this several times, I noticed it seemed to vary in height, every time the print head would home and then raise up to 5mm at the start of the print. In addition, the 5mm Z-move didn't seem to be smooth, but much faster than a usual Z-move, and made a terrible almost-grinding noise. I noticed that in the Slic3r configuby bobtiki - Reprappers
I've just recently unpacked my printer after moving across the country, and I'm in the process of re-calibrating it. It's a Prusa Mendel built from a MakerGear kit from two years ago. For the life of me, I cannot figure this one out: The prints now start *below* the level of the Z endstop, crashing the head, and blocking the filament feed until the feeder gear strips a gouge in the filament. Ordered a new one. Thanks anyway!by bobtiki - Washington, Seattle RepRap User Group
Any chance anyone in Seattle has an extra MakerGear Groovemount (as seen here )? I finally got the brass parts of my hot-end cleaned out, and as I screwed it back into my groovemount… >CRACK!< Just checking before I order a new one. Would be nice to get my hands on one today. Thanks! Markby bobtiki - Washington, Seattle RepRap User Group
Hello, I'm Mark, and I moved to Seattle a few months ago. Brought my Prusa Mendel (built from a MakerGear kit) along for the ride, and it seems to be in decent working order, aside from a clogged nozzle. (Was printing fine with PLA, but I tried to switch to ABS, and I might have had the temp up too high…) Scott, I'm also in Ballard. Been thinking about joining Makerhaus for some classes, thoughby bobtiki - Washington, Seattle RepRap User Group
I guess a lot has happened in two years. I've moved to Seattle, and just unpacked my Mendel. Seems to be in decent working order aside from a clogged nozzle. Hope you RepRappers back in Maryland are doing well.by bobtiki - Baltimore/Wash. DC (and environs) RUG
Yep, that's the email. + is allowed on Gmail. Helps me categorize emails as they come in. Scfishman, I'm near Frederick too, in Middletown.by bobtiki - Baltimore/Wash. DC (and environs) RUG

I'm in Frederick. I'm new to the whole deal (still calibrating my Prusa), but interested in sharing knowledge.by bobtiki - Baltimore/Wash. DC (and environs) RUG
I'm definitely game. What's the plan? Tuesday nights aren't good for me, but otherwise I'm pretty flexible.by bobtiki - Baltimore/Wash. DC (and environs) RUG
I'd love to do a meetup after the holidays. Heck, maybe I'll even have the Prusa up and running by then (or at least have it halfway there, with some good questions to ask). The new Printrbot 8x8 looks interesting, but yeah, the Z-axis has me a little worried. Interested to see how it pans out, though. Anyway, there is interest.by bobtiki - Baltimore/Wash. Printrbot just introduced an 8x8 laser-cut model as well. It will be interesting to see how those do once they actually get into the hands of the backers, and they release the GPL'd design.by bobtiki - Baltimore/Wash. DC (and environs) RUG
Thanks, the MG Prusa looked like the best bet by all of the reviews I read, not to mention their support IRC channel. Anyway, I'd love to do a meetup or whatever at some point. Very excited about the future. Cheers, MBby bobtiki - Baltimore/Wash. DC (and environs) RUG
I'm in a similar situation to Scott. I ordered a MakerGear Prusa kit last week (expect it'll arrive somewhere around the holiday) and am looking forward to building it and interacting with the community more. Also like Scott, my hope is to print parts for a CNC mill as my next big project after the Prusa is up and running. I live near Frederick, MD, so both Baltimore and DC are a bit of a commutby bobtiki - Baltimore/Wash. DC (and environs) RUG
