Can anyone give me a link that tells how to callibrate an extruder for an Aurora Z605 printer using a Melzi 2.3 board? Everything I am finding says to use the EPROM configuraiton menu on repitier host, but that is ghosted out for me. My printer over-extrudes by 26%. Any help?by Willy_HSV - Printing
Have you tried putting a box around your printer to help contain the heat? I had to do that when I switched over to ABS from the PLA sample that came with it.by Willy_HSV - Printing
I have an Aurora Z605 and the JHead will get up to 250. This kind of looks like the problem I am trying to chase down. I keep having holes and thin spots in my surface. My extruder also "thunks" occasionally while trying to extrude. Problem is I have not found how to adjust my extrustion on mine. Mine is trying to put out 126mm when you ask for 100mm and is getting back pressure from the theby Willy_HSV - Printing
So, Is my surface thin and sparce because the slicer is doing something? It looks like the picture on the screen after the print, wehre you can see thru the surface layer. It was still clicking at the extruder every once in a while, but not nearly as much, but it was moving very slow compared to before.by Willy_HSV - Printing
I am newbie, so I do not know how fast I am trying to print (Max Vol/sec is set to 12 mm3/s), everything is set to default right now in Repetier-Host V1.0.6 My driver board is Melzi 2.3. Hot end Tip is .4 according to online brochure. Calibration of extruder not done, I figured it was ok since my PLA print did not have this issue. I did my first measurement for calibration and have 126.64mm puby Willy_HSV - Printing
I thought my print head was jaming, but I did the acetone soak and cleaned it out before printing. It is almost like it is trying to print faster than it can handle. Oh, I also have a .4mm nozzle.by Willy_HSV - Printing
I actually have a dual problem. First one is thst my extruder kicks back occasionally when printing along lower slices, but doesnt do it when it gets to about layer 4 or 5. It is like the extruder is moving to fast for the hotend. I also have a problem when it is trying to fill in a surface, I will include a pic of it ( I have to resize it). There are empty spots in the facing and very thin.by Willy_HSV - Printing
The plastic does not make it out to the threads, but looks like it it gathering between the liner and the nozzle. Almost like the liner is to short and is not keeping a tight fit. It may be that they just did not tighten the lock ring down enough and it may have left play in the liner. I will try to see if I can measure the depth and compare it to the liner to make sure I have the proper lengby Willy_HSV - Printing
Can I please get an admin to move this post to Reprappers section? I guess I should have posted it thereby Willy_HSV - Printing
I think I found my problem, now I need instructions. I have been having my ABS jam while trying to extrude. The extruder would click and nothing would come out immediately. Then after a little wait, it would start creeping out and curling up along the head. So I tried the cooling and pulling, wire in the hole, pushing hard, etc... nothing was clearing it. So I removed it to have a look. Theby Willy_HSV - Printing
That is what I was reading at first, but then I came upon this page and the seed of doubt grew: The diagram shows the only difference betwen the 2 is that PTFE tube. Then I started wondering why you couldnt just insert the tube and change filaments. Guess I see a mod in my future where I put connectors on the hot end so I can unplug it and switch them out. Hello Everyone! I am new to this 3d print world and I am learning lessons faster than printing objects. I finally had my printer tweaked pretty good and was printing small objects with the sample (pla?) filament that came with it. But I ran low on that and finally received my spool of ABS filament. I made the mistake of ordering 1.75 PLA when I ordered the printer, thinking the printer was 1.by Willy_HSV - Reprappers
Elwood127, Can you please post a pic of your fan you added? I have the Aurora Z605 and it came with one fan and mount, but it is focused on the end, not the chamber. This was working great with the sample filament that came with my printer. But I have just started with a roll of ABS and am having a hell of a time with the extruding. I am thinking part of it is temp control, because I think iby Willy_HSV - Reprappers
Thanks but right now my z axis are working as rigged. I finally got my filament in and proceded to start blocking my print head. This unit is most definitely a lesson learned system. I may want to try printing the mounts and holders once I get set, so I may hit you up on the stls. I think there are some on my cd, I have not checked yet. Who knew I would become such an expert on itby Willy_HSV - Reprappers
Does your board have a reset switch on it? It should also have a jumper to the left of the cpu. The jumper determines how it is to turn on. Towards the CPU is stand alone, away from CPU is with USB. You have to plug the USB in before the board lights up. Hope this helps, I've been fighting with mine before I found this board. These machines are definitely NOT for the novice.by Willy_HSV - Reprappers
I just had a similar issue, wish I would have found this article sooner. I was having the worst time with Z axis binding. My screw shafts were slightly bent and I thought that was the issue. When I let the guide shafts loose from the bottom fixture, they would not line up with the hole and would sit in front of it. I did not have to do an elaborate fix like yours, I just needed a washer on thby Willy_HSV - Reprappers
